So I got the Rock Band bundle for PS3,, and then threw away the game disc.

If any of your friends, family, or friends of the family has a PS3 you can always unplug it from your digital studio and use it for it's original purpose. No. Throw it away is the same as throw it out. They both mean in the garbage. No one says "I threw it away" to mean they just threw something to the side.
