yea we were supposed to have a halo 1 retiring LAN party last night..and uh freakin friend of ours she busts out the modded xbox. I didnt want to play, but it sucked me in like a *****. We played on the remade blood gulch (coagulation..HAHA GET IT?). For such a crappy FPS gamer that DB is he actually pwned the crap outta the other team with me. I must say the multiplayer is so awesome. It feels oldschool and new at the same time. Dual wielding..swords etc. And the vehicles..jesus dont get me started on that. For the hour that we played that i was excited . Can't wait till tuesday. And after that we played like 3 hours of Halo 1 LAN. Twas quite a fun night.

| QUOTE (KritTheRed @ Nov 7 2004, 07:45 PM) | So it has dual weapons, which was done in Goldeneye and many games since, vehicles which are a standard in every FPS these days, and i've heard it's only 10 - 15 hours worth of single player, which isn't a lot.
I sure hope they sped up the player movements a bit and shrunk the gigantic weapon models that take up half the screen.
I think i'll wait for it to come to PC, but to be totally honest I played Halo for PC and it didn't do anything for me. Multiplayer was drab and single player was standard stuff by the time I got around to playing it. |
you read the IGN review, cause that Goldeneye thing was in there ;D
anyways...10-15 hours for a FPS, that's a friggin lot. now if it were an RPG, it'd suck.
Anyways. All those things i wrote about, they are IMPROVEMENTS to the game, not revolutionizing video game things like you make me sound like i'm trying to say.

I don't go to Xbox IGN. Goldeneye came to mind because of Rogue Agent, which also has dual weapons as well.

ah. Well i dont trust EA with my james bond games cause well quite frankly EA has a tendancy to crap them up.
but dual wielding really wasnt as big in the old goldeneye games, i guess mainly because you couldnt control each gun seperately and you couldnt grab 2 different guns like you can in halo 2.
Anyways, i'm not trying to make H2 to be some kind of "Ultimate Game", there are none of those. There are always downsides to every game that keep it from achieving that level. And nobody can cater to every gamers wants and needs either.

Well I think in Rogue agent you can dual wield most weapons, and your choice, but I still don't know why they're calling it Goldeneye, but that's beside the point.
I think the majority of Halo 2's life will be played in multiplayer. 10 - 15 hours really isn't that much in my opinion. I hope they've done something extrodinary with multiplayer, because I didn't like the original multiplayer. Vehicles were fun, but as I said before, they were extremely standard by the time I played it, and the movement was toooo slooooow, if you didn't have a vehicle you were a sitting duck. I imagine 16 player Xbox Live matches would be a lot more fun though.

Well in the short hour that DB and I played i think both him and I can vouch for that and say that it is pretty fast compared to the first.
Vehicles can now be stolen, so getting rammed by a warthog is kinda hard to do now.
Weapons have been either remade or beefed up to handle much better. The pistol is crap now btw.
And yes Xbox live play is gonna be a helluva lot of fun. There are ranked matches where all those kids that play counterstrike just for bragging rights when he pwns people play and there are unranked matches where you can play without the stress of getting your stats higher and stuff.

As a seasoned Halo player, I find I disagree with a lot of what has been said. Halo, to me, is a great game, not so much because it revolutionized the FPS in any way, but because of the extremely well-balanced multiplayer it has. I am talking about Halo for Xbox, as Halo for PC is not even close to the same game. First a tad of history, GoldenEye 007 for the N64 is the only Jame Bond game that was made by Rare. That is why it is so good. All these other James Bond games are just trying to Bank on the success of Rare's game. And no, you can't dual weild in that game. Perfect Dark was the game created by Rare when they lost the James Bond license. It did allow selective dual wielding, in that you could have two of the same weapon at one time. Now for Halo. As for the single player, it has four modes of play, Easy, Normal, Heroic, and Legendary. Easy is uneeded, but the other three each are worth playing though. You can get a lot of replay value here. The first player is fun, but I like the muliplayer much better. As I said before, the one thing that sets Halo apart for me, is balanced multiplayer. From the layouts of the map, to the locations of the weapons, each map provides an excellently balanced arena for players to battle in. And experienced Halo players know that you are not helpless against a vehicle. One well-placed grenade is all it takes to ruin a warthog.

And as a player of both the PC and Xbox version, I still stand by what I say. We played a LAN of multiplayer between a few consoles, and it was fun for a while, but nothing I haven't seen before. Eventually we went back to playing PC LAN games instead.
