Hello. This is the second demo to my game, Lost. The first one was lost (no pun) in the forum thing.

There are two levels in the demo (well one and a half, the 2nd isn't exactly completly complete), and five different weapons. Everything you need to know is in the readme. There are also some Logs which basically is the story, as an alternative to cutscenes in between levels. These logs are written by the character you play as, of her condition.

For those who don't read readmes,
Controls:
Arrow Keys=Move
Shift=Jump
Ctrl=Fire
Z(hold)=Sprint
1=M16
2=Magnum
3=Ethorean
4=Portal Gun*
5=Grenade Launcher*

*Can only be accessed with the All Weapons option in Options.

Anyway, I'm not going to bore you guys with stuff, so here are some screenshots and the demo:

I have a splitscreen multiplayer in the works (most likely will be in the next demo, unless I scrap it), I'm hoping to get an online multiplayer feature too.

Well it's been more than a month since the last post, so I guess I wanted to tell you guys how things are going along..

I'm actually kind of bored from playing this same level over and over again, not only is it the second, technically first level in the game, but it's the only one I've played at least 300 times by now. Each with a minor improvement to the engine, or something new.

I currently have two levels in production now. A tutorial level and a level based on the spaceship you originally travel in (the first level, technically a practice level other than tutorial.

Another thing I'm not exactly proud of, but I did anyway was remove the flamethrower. I did it because that thing is not balanced at all (kills enemies in one touch), but to make up for it was I put the sword in. Which is balanced.

Something else I am mentioning is the final weapon/item, it is tentativly called the "Galaxy Cube," think of it as the force. What I have planned with it right now is to Let you jump higher, and run faster, but you cannot use any weapon with it, balancing it a little. This will be the last weapon I will make in the game because I need to start on levels.

Here is the final list of weapons (in order of how they are mapped to the keyboard):
1-M16, Automatic Assualt Rifle
2-Magnum, Single shot pistol
3-Ethorean, Alien Assualt Rifle
4-Portal Gun, Molecule Transporter
5-Grenade Launcher, Explosive Weapon
6-Light Sword, Deadly melee weapon
7-Galaxy Cube, more on this later
(If I ever decide to put the flamethrower back in, it is technically still in the game, but I "locked" it, so it is not accessable)

The next time I release something will probably be when those 2 levels and the Galaxy cube are done.

This weapon is based on a significant part of the story that I will not discuss yet, so it will not be introduced until a later level.

The original idea was to have the sword pull out from a point on the forearm, but I had Star Wars in mind when I drew the sprites.

This sword took a new step into developing weapons for this game. Before, the only animations I could use on weapons were the "pull out" animation.

I finally completed the final weapon. The Galaxy Cube. It increases the speed and jump strength of the player when it is out. But in exchange, you cannot use any weapon. I was considering in later levels using Phizix extension to be able to use galaxy cube to "push" those objects at enemies. Like Force Push in Star Wars. I'd have to test it, I have'nt successfully been able to throw any other objects with phizix in the game, besides the ragdoll.

I can make a video later of it in action. But now I'm finally starting my next level, Survival of the fittest. Where you are transported on an unknown planet, only to find out there is a dueling tournament going on. The grand prize is a "Intergalactic Space Shuttle" which may be your only way off the planet.

This level is designed to show that there is a bit more to the game than just Alien shooting. Now it's alien slaying. biggrin.gif

Some of the ground and some of the backgrounds seem to clash with the sprites, but other than that: looks awesome.

Sword and Galaxy Cube added demo. For anyone interested. No levels added. Sword and cube aren't in level 1 part 2 and never will be (because copying and pasting a new weapon into a level is not exactly easy.), but they will be in every other new level.

I've started the "world map."
And the idea behind it is, you collect weapons Metroid or Zelda style where you find them somewhere and you fight bosses or continue on to different parts of the map with them.

It looks nice, but the Grenade Launcher seems very inspired by TF2.
And you can't seem to kill people with it.

Anyways, the ragdoll feature seems pretty randomly thrown in, I think a standard death pose might aswell do it.

Actually I never played TF2. It was actually just a quick sprite edit to something else.

I'm probably not getting rid of the ragdoll, since that was the first thing to be in the engine, everything was built on top of it. But it works nice, when I start the multiplayer mode, there won't be any ragdoll. Actually that'll have a completely new engine.
