Update 11/03/08!
Hi,
It's my birthday today, so I decided to release the new version.
Not ALOT of new things, but I've worked alot with the code,
to make it more flexible, making it easier to implent new things.
So next release will probably involve alot of new functionality ;)

I suggest you to use a Gamepad with 1 or 2 analog sticks,
works ALOT better than keyboard.

Some new Levels, Delta timing, Customizable Keybindings,
Improved FPS, Improved Physics, Some interface.
Those are the new things you'll see.

Press F1-F4 to see what some of the "cap modes" will look like.
Read the ReadMe.txt file for more information.

Please give any constructive critique! ;)
Suggestions, Improvements etc are welcome.

Expect next update within a week or two ;)

Wow, another 3D game maker! I hope you continue this. I didn't notice any problems with this, except it ran slowly, but my computer isn't so great.

I have noticed that people who start making 3d Mario games never finish them. I'm really hoping this game is completed someday. I don't think there has ever been a good 3d Mario fangame completed before...

I'll do my best to finish it. It will be really simple to make your own levels when I'm done, All you need simply is a 3D Modeling application which can name meshes within a mesh ;)

Good luck with this.
I started porting my game/engine to blitzmax+truevision3d+briskvm and it was me who rigged up and animated the mario mode so thanks for the credit.

Blitz3d is great and you can do everything in it gameplaywise that is in mario galaxy( i have demos of mario running around crazy shaped worlds), just not graphics that are as good.

In terms of mechanics, this is actually really smooth. Good job!

I also would love to see how you implemented the triple jump and sliding, because I never figured out how to do that for my 3D fangame (Super Mario Legacy). Probably because I'm still not that experienced =P

The graphics are very smooth and it it looks good. The two part that bothered me is that Mario spends way too much time in the air and the camera at some parts would immediately switch to another angle making you lose complete track of where you are. Other than that, not bad

Awesome job so far creave biggrin.gif I was wondering, how did you make that DOF effect? Playing with near and far clipping values? smile.gif Also, for sliding, do you use the ground y normal to decide if it's a slide or something? Well done, anyway!

P.S. sindii!? ALIVE!? IMPOSSIBLE!

A bit slow on my computer, but this is pretty cool!

The only problems are sometimes the angle completely switches and you lose track where you are, and you can't change your direction while your jumping.

@ supermariomaster, He's slow because I haven't implented any Timing functions yet, Your computer is simply too slow ;)

@sindii, Oh so you're the author of the Mario model :O, I've looked into your work, I like it ;) And I'm going for Truevision myself after this project :)

@MrGuy, Hehe, Thanks :)

@Majiczenith, Thanks and I'll adjust the gravity etc, to get a proper Mario 64 feeling ;)

@The Damizean, Thanks, and I got the DoF effect from the Code Archives on Blitzbasic.com ;)

@DJ Yoshiman, Sorry for posting in the wrong section, I read the rules and found nothing about posting in the right section, so I just kinda posted it :P

@roland, Thanks :) I'll do my best!

@DOODLEboy99, There are 2 different camera modes, I think you've used the wrong one when you tested the jumping thing, Change with Numpad button 5 ;) or if you're using a gamepad, gamepad button nr 6 I believe :P

It's really nice, smooth too. Just a few things though:
-Mario seems to move and jump slow. This is most likely my computer. =p
-When sliding you can't move left or right.

Creave, I've been toying with the DOF effect you mentioned in the code archives. I suggest you use direct render to texture using Tom's DirectX7 DLL, that way you don't need to transfer from the back buffer to texture buffer (hence, not going through system memory and creating a huge bottleneck).

Also, do you have AIM or MSN? I may have some suggestions to enhance the perfomance of the application smile.gif
