Fanservice is the primary gunning for its engine, and it has long outlived its original novelty. The edginess, zaniness, and "epic" nostalgia are all empty aesthetics. The only reason any of you liked the original is because it was new and it was fanservice. Keep clinging to your childhood faith in that game. That's all it ever truly had going for it.

this post actually has some merit to it

though I do believe that ssb64 was good because it had a cool concept and didn't overcomplicate things

I wonder why I still play ssb online...and have played melee for 3 years+? It's an unique fighter game. And so what if that's all its going for is fanservice? That's what I enjoy about the game. If I didn't want it, I wouldn't have pre-ordered it, but if I were crazy to get it I would be *****ing about not being able to get it right at launch on account of the coming snow in my region.
