I have this idea for a game, but the thing is, I don't want to pursue it with all my other projects going on (Mario's Epic Dream, Blokman, and OoT2D) I don't mind taking a break from OoT2D right now, mainly because I plan to get into it when MED and Blokman are done. My question is, if I were to start programming this game, would you guys play it? It's a wierd idea.
Here's a bit of a story I wipped up in about 10 minutes:
You are a box being shipped from the big city, to a small country-town located on a distant prairy. As you are packed into a heavy-duty delivery truck, the delivery dude places a box that has words that read, "Caution -- do not drop" stamped on the side. As soon as it is placed, and the truck starts moving, it wobbles and falls over. A wand and some magical glasses are released from the inside. Suddenly after the driver talks to himself about how dreary the city is, the nick-nacks come to life, and cast a spell on the box causing it to suddenly be able to move. The glasses and wand then fly upwards out of the open truck roof, leaving you to ponder what happened.
Here's where the potentially awesome idea of the game comes in, and I don't want you guys basing your opinion on the story. It's wierd, I know.
The game is a platformer controlled entirely by the mouse, what you do is slide the mouse horizontally, and the box that you control slides around on the ground that he's situated on. The game won't show the mouse on screen, so what you get is a control style similar to Enigma. When you press the left mouse button, you jump. That would be so awesome.
Along with the story, I want the game to have a very lonely feeling, very ambient (Sorta like Knytt). You start out in the city (Because you fall out of the truck) and end up finding out that the city is empty, except for random nick-nacks that have been brought to life aswell, mostly found in obscure areas, with very depressing dialect. The city is very rainy, dreary and wet, depressing as hell, but then the farther you get into the game, the closer you get to the place in which you are supposed to be, and the mood gets happier. I expect most of the game will take place in the city, while the other quarter will take place in, say, the countryside.
lol, I pretty much convinced myself to make this game
Sound like a good idea?
