If you're looking to be confused, make word filters changing all vowels to a certain letter (I suggest to a vowel), all for read-only, and loose. For example, with all vowels turned to "i"...

I like the smoothness of the lifebar but the shadow of Mario's head looks really pixelated and it's too small for a life gauge. When I make games, I make sure that everyone can see just how much they fail at staying alive that everyone can keep track of how much life they have. This gauge would work however if the games' screen resolution was like 200 x 180

Game graphics can be all sorts of sizes.


However, I'd have to say that the Mario's head shape needs work. For one thing, you should probably smooth it out; right now it has all kinds of square corners. Try taking corner pixels off and adjusting other things.

Also, his hat bill should probably be thinner / stick out more, and probably the same thing with his nose (which perhaps could be a bit higher up on his face too, idk).

It'd work if it was put inside of a HUD but if you place it where it was for SM64 or SMS on it's own, players who don't pay attention to anything that's not in the middle of the screen won't really notice it. But then again, I don't really know what people's preferences are. I'm in the same boat as the people who enjoy having a big life gauge that's literally like Hi! You're dying! You're sucking!

My point is that one can't very well say that a sprite is "too small", as long as it's large enough for its design to be understood.

Games can have completely different screen sizes, and something small like this could indeed be useful for a game with small (e.g. 8 x 8 px as opposed to 16 x 16 px) graphics in it.
