Based off the way your game looks, I'd have to go with either a Selection Screen, or a HUB. The Map would make your game and mine become too similar. I voted Selection though.

NOTE: I find it rather funny that we have the same main character, platformer, idea to include minigames, mini bosses, etc. and just about everything else for our games! We even came up with the same name for corn's sake! However, the only significant difference is the stories.

Any one of these three is OK, but another way that I like is it tells you how many levels in total, and you type in the number of which one you want. If you have seen my game Nevada's Tomb 1 it uses a map but you can go any levels in any order, but you can't see the entire map at once, you just have to move around to see it.

It depends on the game that I'm making. On my "Princess Peach Coin Chase" fangame, a "Stage Selection" menu layout is planned (for both the 1 and 2 Player games) -- I may explain this more in my topic on a future date; no guarantees, though.

I always prefer HUB. But that's probably because I've grown up with the Crash Bandicoot games.

I loke a Small Level where you can choose the level by going into doors(Like Super Mario 64), or an Overworld Map like in Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros. 3.

It depends on the game actually. If you named the genre, it'd help a lot, but even then it can vary.

E.g. Smash Bros. would definitely rock (not really) with a HUB World from which all four players have to open doors to get to the stages to fight on.
Then again a platformer like Super Mario 64 works perfectly with a HUB because you can explore this world and find "side missions".
Super Mario Galaxy didn't utilize the HUB too well >_> it was actually just a combination of level select and HUB.

SMB1 is a kind of arcade game. Beat one level, go to the next, reach high-score. So it works best with no selection at all (except for adding a level select for levels to play again for fun)

So I think if you have side-quests or stuff, you should do a HUB or a world map if the side-quests are just levels. If you have a rather linear game and want it simple, you might rather do a level select.

HUB world or like in SMBDX when you press up or down to switch between the levels on the different save files e.g. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 etc. and left or right to change world e.g. 1-2, 2-2, 3-2 etc.

Also, if the game has lots of secret levels to discover, a mapscreen would be ideal.

I've always enjoyed Map Level Selection, so I guess my vote goes to that option. I think it's the hardest out of the 3 to code, the other 2 wouldn't take much to get one up and running.
