What could follow the DS?

It's been available over three years now, and so has lasted longer than the Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance, and as far as I am aware there is no sign of many successor just yet. It's different, and yet the button layout also allows traditional handheld gameplay. So with the Dual screens, microphone, N64 comparable graphics, touchscreen, how on earth can Nintendo top it? What would be the signs that the DS is aging. I have to say that I have only had one since Christmas, but I am very happy thus far with all the 1st party software.

So yeah, what new hardware features will be available on the next Nintendo portable? Please remeber that this is the CCC.

3 touch screens

I want to say something more basic, but knowing Nintendo, they'll surprise us with something we won't expect.

I'd like to see a basic design, but with more 3D game play. Like a mini N64, but withough gimicky gameplay. Just plain and simple games.

I think that the DS will be dropped about 1.5 years before the Wii, because of all the Wii-DS services to come out.

Probably an analog stick with a stylus that works like the Wii Remote. You point it at the touch screen, you can shake it, ect.

Nuh uh! They make like, totally totally virtual reality suit. The helmet will include a slot for game cartidges, then, BOOM! You're in the game!

But....other than that.....I can't think of another successor. And By the way, 3 Touch Screens is a dumb idea!

A DS with improved graphics and cartridges that could hold much more data.

Not sure if that sounds like Nintendo's game plan, and I wonder if they'll go for a larger PSP style screen?

PSP was a bit of a failure, IMO.

PSP wasn't close to a failure. Just aimed towards more hardcore gamers, and it sole what 1,000 to 2,000 less units?

Really? What was the Gameboy Advance? It was a Gameboy but upgraded graphics. DS is the only portable system that took on a new direction, but I doubt they'd do something again like that, as the DS has so many possibilities anyways. If anything, I'm sure they'd just upgrade upon it, instead of thinking of a whole new idea, since I honestly don't know what else more you could possibly do for a portable console.

I base my opinion off the community I live in. I heard about PSP for like 3 days when it came out, and now, no one even cares about it. I mean seriously, I ALMOST forgot it existed.

The PSP was huge when it first came out, and then after a year, no one cared anymore, since it didn't offer anything, and when the DS began getting lots of games, and WiFi started, it was pretty much over. It's good for homebrew, and that's about it. Only owners of a PS3 should have one or people who wish to run emulators on the go. If you actually own one for the games, I dunno, that's pretty odd.

like some other suggestions in here, probably just a specs boost and multi-touch

maybe basic motion sensing but nothing close to the wii remote
