Super Mario Comic Strip, Chapter 1 is out!!

Hi,

I'm glad to present you my new project: Super Mario Comic Strip.
So far the Comic Strip aspect reside mainly on the "cinematics" and on the fact that the game will be released level by level every month or so, just like a comic book, continuing the story.

Today I will ony post some screenshots and if I have time tomorrow I'll post a video. Anyway I plan on releasing the first chapter next week.

The engine doesn't suffer any major bug, but anyway each glitch won't be fixed until next chapter.

Power ups are part classic, part new, and graphics are only customs (but not only by me) or edited.
Enough talking:


Just Mario and a goomba


Fire flower inside an underground labyrinth


The lights will allow or forbid you to pass depending on their colors


One of the new powers: Fox Mario wich allows you to call clones to your rescue... Guess where I picked that from

That's it!
Just so you know, everything is pretty much done for the first chapter, I'm just missing some level design part and some sounds.

O_O what a surprise!
I remember this.

So it's episodic? Cool. I think that's good and it's new too (for fangaming).

The game looks and sounds interesting. Can't wait to try it out next week!

Interesting idea, and TOTALLY TOTALLY KAWAII graphics!

Oh, and you got that Fox idea from Naruto, huh?

Nine Tailed Fox (or was it 6?).........Shadow Clone Jutsu........duh!

Yeah, you guys are right, I got the idea from naruto.
So far I only have one tail Fox Mario, but later, as the power ups are cumulative in the game (wich means you can be fire Fox Mario for example), you will be able to get more tails that will allow you new moves such as flying, but I haven't really think about those new abilities beside this.

The episodic concespt is also for me a way to make sure that I'll be releasing something, because with my game I always lost my way triing to make them big.

Something else I had forgot to mention, in the level you can collect balloons (I'm not sure about the word) and if you collect them all, you can have a preview of the next episode.

I'm really happy that you guys are enthousiastic about the game, and hope to post the video later today!

I would've considered the Fox Mario to be f rom Super Smash Bros Melee/Brawl, because of when you said call in people, but I guess that Naruto thing makes more sense. I saw the kid in that show clone himself and he said some stuff about a nine tailed fox, I don't normally watch Japanese cartoons though.

The chapter one is finally out!!

All right, I tried it out.
It's pretty good. Their are not that many glitches and the engine is pretty smooth. The timer for powerups was clever, but when the time is low and you get an item but cannot touch it, you should be able to fill up your timer.

Just finished it. I don't really like the lack of music, but everything else is great.

Why "lack of music"?

The part where you are actually playing the game, all I can hear was sound effects.

Unless my computer is messed up or something

There is supposed to be music, I wonder if this happens to anybody else...

However in the maze at the beginning I fell through a floor (which is apparantly on purpose) but didn't go all the way through and got stuck. (which is hopefully not on purpose).

I expected a bit more of this than one level though.. =(

But it was fun for the little time it lasted.

Yeah I got some "stucking problem" that i don't really know how to solve.. About the lengh of the level, I'm sorry but I'm horribly slow at making games, and I didn't wanted to postpone this one ever and ever, that's why I choose to make it short. Hope I'll be releasing chapter two someday..

Any problem with the music?

nope. I can hear it and it sounds good.

But why is Peach called Mario's "Friend?"

I once got defeated by an enemy while I still had three hearts. Not sure whats up with that...

Also there is a place in the game where you seem to float in mid air above the ground (quite high up actually)
