Ok, pfft, fine, it's known across us Mario gamers, but ask any common Paper Mario gamer about it and they'll have no clue. They just picked up Paper mario TTYD or something and got interested. But they don't know SMRPG. :X

this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard

I'd actually like to play through it, provided they don't screw it up.

I'm too lazy to get it on the VC and the original cartridge is ****ed (it'll freeze and SHOW THE DAMN CODING) so I'd buy it.

QUOTE (NES Boy @ Apr 16 2008, 09:46 PM)
If it's an N64 remake, I wonder if the graphics will be sprite-based ala the original (due to the power of the DS, so no Mario made out of pieces of his body), only everything will be revamped into the TTYD/SPM style and Peach and Bowser get their SPM designs.

... They weren't sprite-based at all. It was convenient for a lot of the smaller characters to be represented by a single texture, but the larger characters were still broken up with pivoting parts.

What about UK gamers who may have never gotten a chance to play SMPRG?

They can consider themselves lucky because there's hardly any redeeming factors about that game

The only thing good about it is that it inspired Paper Mario, considering half the terminology is the same, as well as the shared FP

MUSIC -
Easily the best Mario based Soundtrack that Nintendo has ever produced(Brawl and Melee were mroe than just Mario.

Graphics -
The best on the Super Nintendo for sure, colorful and vibrant and it had style.

Gameplay -
Introduced the Timed hit concept found in every other Mario RPG game, and I feel that Paper Mario didn't pull it off well.

Also, when playing Paper Mario I didn't feel like I advanced much when I gained a level since I could never do above 10 damage. I know this may be a strange reason, but damn the last boss have a measly 99 HP. The main Argument against this is that to make it like other games just multiply it by 10 or 100 and you get a high number.

It's not just the high number, it's just that there are more multipliers at work, Paper Mario seems to use lesser math to calculate their damage. Yes, a very stupid reason, but it feels as if they were lazy.

In SMRPG, you'd actually do more damage as you leveled up, and the monsters got stronger along the way. I felt I advanced more in SMRPG because of this. M&L Super Star Saga also had this same feeling of advancement.

Paper Mario doesn't have any redeeming factors.

I can't see very well on little portable systems, maybe if they put it on the GameCube I'd go and buy it.

Some people can't use the virtual console though...

I want this badly!

Same. Paper Mario on the go= Instant Win (Unless it's buggy as hell, like Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis on the GBA.)

If this IS a remake/adding things, please don't screw this up, Ninty. I LOVED PM1 the best, and it better not suck.

Look everyone knows you have a vendetta for Paper Mario
It doesn't stop that game from being really fun and Marioy.

Whut. SMRPG was mostly "push the button twice" and Paper Mario invented like a bazillion new things. How is that not pulling it off well?

Also am I the only one who thinks SMRPG is actually pretty butt ugly?

But anyway I also hope it's a new game and not a port because I already have an N64 and it's on Virtual Console already, so I don't really need a port. :/

No, you're not. The 3D renders especially have aged pretty terribly to the point where I can't even really tell what some of the enemies are supposed to look like.

I mean, the game itself doesn't look that bad...but I greatly prefer the hand-drawn style of the PM games, personally.

I actually would love for Paper Mario to be ported to the DS, but I think Super Mario RPG remake would be better.

haha I've downloaded Paper Mario on VC and all (I've rented it and beaten it before though)... though I honestly haven't gotten around to playing much of it. I've noticed that I tend to play handheld RPGs a ton more so I don't care if they don't change anything or not
