On Wii or even on DS, it would work fine in any system. Who knows, maybe even both. But one thing I'm sure: Nintendo should bring Pit back to life, and not as a secondary serie like Animal Crossing, Nintendogs or Pikmin. Nintendo should make it a main serie like Mario or Zelda, since Kid Icarus isn't just a Metroid clone (that was the reason Metroid series kept going and they forgot about Kid Icarus) after Sakurai got his hands on the work .
So, what do YOU think? What would you like to see in the new sequel? Could there be a new Kid Icarus game in the Wii featuring Arrow & Bow-like movements in the Wiimote, plus a NES Kid Icarus remake on the DS, since it has two screens, allowing more vertical vision of the screen? Tell us your opinion!

| QUOTE (strong414bad @ Apr 17 2008, 04:53 PM) | Yeah, it'd be a good idea. Kid Icarus was an NES classic and a 3D version would only be fitting. I don't have any ideas for it, though, other than the basic Metroid meets Zelda that Kid Icarus is destined to be in 3D.
While we're on the subject, why not make a new Mach Rider? I think it would definitely work, with perhaps an F-Zero racing style with a major emphasis on combat. Maybe you could have bosses in it as well, and parts where you actually get off your bike. |
Yeah, that would be cool, too.
I forgot to say I'm also willing for an DS Ice Climber remake, again taking advantage of the game's vertical scrooling system and DS's two screens.

| QUOTE (Shyguy Grey @ Apr 17 2008, 05:21 PM) | I think a few games should come back.
Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, and a few more. All in 3D with new gameplay. |
I really can't think about any way Ice Climbers could be totally 3D (Mario 64-like), but I would LOVE to pound things with the Wiimote as if it was their Hammers, and you would be able to go into Co-op play if you have another Wiimote (AKA another Hammer for the 2nd player).
However, I would love Kid Icarus Wii if it was Zelda-like. In fact, I think I would convert myself into "Nintendo Fan, mainly Kid Icarus series" instead of "Nintendo Fan, mainly Super Mario series" if that happened. I know the NES game was a Metroid clone, but there was item-colecting and temples-like stages, too, so i think they really should make Kid Icarus like Zelda, just with the long-range, turn-able arrow of Palutena's Bow and Light Arrows instead of the Master Sword.
The DS remake could be exactly like NES but with 3D models and replaced graphics (NSMB-ish). Maybe they could make it so you touch the screen and Pit will shoot arrows where you touched (Like Yoshi Touch & Go) or draw where the arrow will go, so it looks more like Brawl's turn-able arrows; but the Touchscreen features aren't really necessary, maybe they could even be unlockable or optional. Co-op or Versus Multiplayer would be a welcome addition in the DS one, too, because the Wii one wouldn't really have Multiplayer 'cause it looks too much like Zelda, and there wouldn't be any way how to add Multiplayer Features.

Honestly, a sequel would work best on the DS, revamping the old game with new features.
However, I have no hopes for a Kid Icarus sequel ever. The Metroid series suffered without Gunpei Yokoi's direction, and while something like Metroid could easily be converted into an FPS and sell well with it's space-like atmosphere, I doubt someone's going to come up with a concept that will fit the Greek mythology atmosphere well.
So yea, I don't expect one, as much as I'd like a good sequel.
edit: and yea, Kid Icarus ran on an engine much like Metroid's, but the games are quite different in design. I prefer Kid Icarus on NES more than Metroid on NES because it's more linear and arcade like shooting action, as opposed to exploration.

| QUOTE (strong414bad @ Apr 17 2008, 07:51 PM) | | Wait... I forgot about Punch-Out! Why don't they just make a new Punch-Out game? It's fun, very different from Nintendo's current series(es?) , and it would totally benefit from today's graphics (and Wii controls, come to think about it). |
Damn, you're right!! Nintendo also don't have a single fighting serie aside Smash Bros, which isn't even count much as a "fighting" genre. there could be even new modes and features, who know, even "special moves" things. There could also have Mii integration, since the only well-know character of the serie is Little Mac. It would even work on the DS as 3D remake, where you see opponents on the top screen and has to touch to punch them "Flash Focus: Boxing"-style.
I'm really starting to think Nintendo should release a serie of remakes for DS like there's the Classic GBA Series, but this time really redone and with more features. It could be named "NES DS Remakes series" or something along those lines.

| QUOTE (Nnnk @ Apr 17 2008, 08:19 PM) | Except that the reason most of these have been pushed aside is because they've been deemed "unprofitable." Which is why they are limited to the VC, where they don't need to pay for reproduction, packaging, distribution, etc. In short, we need new games, not old ones. |
New games from old concepts. After all, Kid Icarus was released on NES when Super Mario Bros., Zelda and Metroid was the highlights, so I believe it didn't got enough attention because it was in their shadows.

Nintendo of America's MO regarding Earthbound fans in the west is that we don't exist so yeah, we're pretty much screwed as far I know.
