Friend codes will not vanish from Nintendo's online service. Stop dreaming. The voice chat on DS could mean that there is hope in the future for some options but do not hold your breath.

You don't really need friend codes though. You can play with random players in your region or around the world in Mario Kart, seeing their username even! And their Miis! And supposedly there is some form of text chat for the friends mode (not likely during the race).

But making friends online through voice and adding them through a overtly friendly user interface, and being able to talk to people not in my friends list is nice.

And I will acknowledge that the Wii's motion sensing feature is interesting and intuitive, but is not used to its full potential. Nevertheless, the Wii is a fun diversion!

Sadly I lack an X-box 360. However i still play Halo 2 from time to time.
