I was wondering, you guys use MMF and GM for your fan games.
But i see no tutorial section for doing it?

Unless i have missed it, im sorry. And would like to be pointed in the right direction.
I think it would be a great category myself. Since i do not know how to use either of those game development software.

Also i have a question for the more experienced users.
1. What one do you prefer over the other MultiMedia Fusion or Game Maker and why you think this way.
2. Which one has the steepest learning curve to understand how to use it.

*Reasons for the questions are for personal preferences for me, it is not to start a debate. Im wanting user input not argument over what is best please.

There's like one forum for fan game development. I think there should be more but thats probably why there's no tutorial section.

http://archive.mfgg.net/index.php?showforum=19 is what I mean.

There might be some tutorials on the main site though.

I use Game Maker, since it's free. Can't really say much about MMF, because I haven't really used it.

Both programs are capable of creating great games, but GM appears to be more popular.

GameMaker is free and can be extended with the use of *.dll files (making these yourself is relatively advanced and if you do it, you probably should just code in a programming language anyway.) Registering GameMaker adds more pretties like particle effects, I'm not sure if you have to register to use *.dll's but it'd make sense. It's generally agreed to use GameMaker 6 and not 7, for concerns over ownership and property disputes.

Fusion is not free, but has a far simpler interface, which few are not able to adapt to. The program is powerful enough that it does not have much of a technical disadvantage compared to GameMaker.

GameMaker's primary method of making games is in a script format similar to some programming languages called GML (GameMaker Language.) You can use point-and-click, but this is often much less powerful.

Fusion on the other hand works primarily with selectable conditions and actions. You can use the LUA extension to code extra features in LUA, making your games considerably more powerful and considerably less stable -- LUA doesn't help very much when you make a mistake in it.

It's drag-and-drop, not point-and-click.

I used GM like millions of years ago, and never tried MMF. Coding your games yourself is an option too, for example with language Python and with libraries Pyglet, Miru, Rabbyt and Los Cocos.

Reason? Python is a VERY easy language to learn.

I prefer GM to work with.Since MMF2 has limited possibilities(I think so),GM is the best for me.You could check the mAin Site, there are many tutorials for GM and MMF2.

I think a tutorial section would be very useful to new members.

Don't need one outside of the main site.

If you need help with something there's the help forum and whatnot, and the fangame discussion allows tutorials to be posted there IIRC.

Nah, that'd basically be the same as the main-site.

Though saying that the main site's tutorial queue is practically frozen since there's no active staff that use GameMaker.

There's no tutorial section here, except for mini-tutorials in the help section (they're stickied). But you can easily find tutorials from the sites you get Game Maker and Multimedia Fusion from.
