Well it looks suspicious. Multiple antiviruses detected a trojan agent, and this topic is Jyaif's first (and only) posts. Plus the behavior this game caused (hard drive formatting, exiting, weird WinXP errors). I'm not taking chances.

Latia, what antivirus are you using?

Avira AntiVir Personal Edition 7.
Like he said(and it´s true),libcurl.dll is used to send data to his computer,a trojan Virus uses the same lib,so it´s detected as Virus or spyware,he uses it to submit highscores.That´s the same thing,but actually he had to include the trojan file too,otherwise he wouldn´t get anything a hacker would need.I always get the same virus warning when downloading a MMF game with online highscore(I think it uses MooSock),so you I think you don´t have to fear anything.

Edit:You can check files for Viruses anually without a antivirus,just check it´s filesize.It has to be an .exe and the file is smaller than 80 kb.I use the same method on yoyogames.

I am pretty sure the guy who said his HD was beeing formatted was jocking...

The fact that the program crash is almost "normal", since this game is made in C++ from the ground up, and is therefore more crash prone than programs made with Game Maker.

It is my first topic, but I don't see how this is relevent: you necessarely have to have a first topic.

Well, if someone really had made a fangame just to insert a virus, they would have only posted to release it because they wouldn't be interested in mario fangames at all.

Have you tried starting it from the console?

Can you send me the files located in the same directory as KM.exe, called "stderr.txt" and "stdout.txt" ?

It might help me find what went wrong.

This sounds pretty freaking important to me, and should be given more attention.

Why on earth would he be joking?

This could be a very serious problem that could royally screw up people's computers, and you aren't even taking it seriously.


I strongly suggest that no one else download this game unless it is fixed and/or proven safe.

I tried every way possible and I couldn't get into the game.


Now almost 2 days after deleting it entirely, I'm still receiving the Trojan alert at random times from my AVG.

Hmm... It all works for me.

It seems that the file you mentioned may have different reactions for different computers

I'm gonna play it safe and delete the file, although I must say it's an extremely enjoyable game

Next time I suggest you be more careful -- don't use files and extensions unless you know exactly what they do

It's a shame to see such a great fan game go to waste, and more importantly, it's a shame to see so much hard work go to waste

Although the screenshots and the fact you get to play as a shyguy that wants to murder mario sounds interesting, I am not going to download because I don't trust it. I have had enough virus/trojan problems in the past. I have had this stupid computer for over 6 years and I can't afford another one (I'm a teenager, what ya expect?). It looks fun, but until it's proven to be ABSOLUTELY safe, I'm not downloading.

This. Trojan or not, the game needs to be less crash prone, and CERTAINLY doesn't need to tell some computers to reformat the hard drive.
