"The Message of Majora's Mask"

Just read the whole thing, and hooooooly ****. Who would have thought that there could be so much meaning in things I had always looked upon as no more then decoration.

I have been waiting for 7 years for someone to get it. I should have expected it from a Zelda fansite, but that's just not the way things happen anymore, so I forgot. This is a nice reminder. I should play Majora's Mask again.

I think I love Majora's Mask even more now ;o;

I think I finally understand why people are obsessive over this game

I also now understand why they call this the darkest game in the Zelda series.

I'm amazed about the amount of detail in Deku Scrubs. Simply Deku Scrubs.

When the Deku Mask is created, it is filled with the soul that was bestowed upon Link. Notice the Butler's son in that area before the twisting tunnel; he didn't look like a Deku Scrub; just a normal tree. This shows that Deku Scrubs do not exist simply as physical creatures, but as souls of part of a collective concious that animates the inanimate.
Even the way they move. If you've ever seen the movie Merlin, I see a Deku Scrub's movement as driven by magic in a way similar to the way that imp and Queen Maab move at quick speeds.
Deku Scrubs are able to move by the power of their will, whether they realize it or not. They are one of the most magical creatures in the land of Hyrule.

That was intense.

That was a good read. It's always refreshing to read video game theories such as this sometimes.

What's funny is, before reading this, you don't really look at the designs of things and ask yourself why it looks that way. You just kinda say they designed it that way because it fits well.
But when someone puts meaning to it that makes sense, it all seems cooler.

I did form some more ideas about more of the game, combining that Deku Scrub thought, the article mentioned by the topic creator, and another article I read before, that attempts to determine who Link's clone is.

Think... Wasn't Link lonely in Ocarina of Time? Didn't he feel like an outcast? What changed that though? Just a few friends who stood by him.

Who in Majora's Mask was without friends?

Remember the scene at the end, with the field? Think of that as Link's mind merging with Majora's mind to see a remembered event in the past; even before Clock Town had been created.
