It's an Extension, not a Game Maker File. Do you know how to install extensions into Game Maker?

My copy of Game Maker claims, that it's made with old version of Game Maker (earlier than 5).

Crash course:
1.NEVER open .lib or .gex files in GM,they arenīt games.
2..lib files go in the folder Game_Maker7/lib
3..gex files go in the folder Game_Maker7/extensions
4.To use a .lib file,go to the objectīs event editor, select the new tab and select the action/condition/whatever.
5.To use a .gex file, collapse the resource tree and click Extension packages.Select the extension you want to add to the game, and click the arrow button.

.lib files are like the drag&drop action libraries,.gex files add GML functions.

That reminds me, the Extension he is trying to open is a .ged. .ged's are UNUSABLE BY ANYONE BUT THE EXTENSION CREATOR! That means he'll have to contact the Extension Creator and let him know.
