loops (which aren't necessarily closed but) pass through opposite edges of a quad; basically a face loop comprises of all the faces said loop passes through

for example there are 3 face loops in this

so yes, that second setup i posted in my other post technically has 4 face loops, but it doesn't have a "loop" per se
