And the theory that a single explosion in space created all this does?

He did say "to me" and not "to you".

But I'm sure science does make sense to him.

I'd just get bored if I had it.

Pretty much.

You'll do everything you wanted to do, and then what is there to do after that?

wow.

wow. I can see you're gonna last
(and actually yes, the big bang theory -- while having nothing to do with immortality, souls, or the afterlife -- has plenty of evidence behind it, including one of the most remarkable feats of science to date: the COBE mission)

but yeah, this thread is more about the philosophical implications of immortality. please take religious fanaticism to the ol' Creationism Thread where it (almost) belongs

and if your taking Creationism, you may as well take evolution aswell(or any type of debate that is not about immorality). Although it can lead to debates about religion, so can just about any other topic.

Immortality would be awesome.

Except if your happily enjoying life I doubt there are many that will just choose to die, especially if you believe you will cease to exist.

If organsims lived forever, nutrients and resources would have been depleted millions of years ago. The fact is you're gonna die, so you might as well get used to it.

He said outside forces could still cause death. So technically you could eat all the delicious immortal animals and the plants which would quickly dominate the planet due to us having to actually kill all the ones that are growing in stupid places.

Don't get me started on all the arthropods there'd be.

Life is precious yes, but it is precious because we know that ic could be ended. I do not fear death. When my time comes, I will pass on with my head up high. Immortaliy will take away the preciousness away and you will with the bitter fact of having your descendants die before you do. Immortality is a large responsibiltiy and I probably wouldn't choose it as you would still feel pain. If eternal youth came with it, I might consider it for a good while.

Totally. Death is the one thing that horrifies me the most, coupled with the doubt regarding what happens next

But I wouldn't be inmortal unless my family and close ones get to share it

I'd take immortality in any form.

Especially in Captain Jack Harkness form. That's ****ing badass on all sorts of levels.

Side effects may include: large swelling of the head, pregnancy, shortening of the limbs, telekineses, and increased urge to spout prophecy.

No, I would not want to be immortal, despite the fact that the thought of death sometimes terrifies me. I'd have to see my family and friends die, I'd be all alone, etc.

So believing in Jesus means you live forever?

If you paid attention, we're talking about physical immortality, as in your body doesn't die, not spiritual.

As for me, living beyond the mortal span would be incredibly boring. I mean, I have so much free time nowadays, and even if I lived for an extra 50 years I'd be bored. So, no.
