I know nothing about making a platformer (or any other)game with Game maker. All I wanted to know is: what is the most recommended way of learning GML, D&D, or any other Game maker elements. I know absolutely NOTHING, and I just want to know where I should begin.

Create a solid block object (a 16 by 16 square should be the object with transparent on) and a character. You can easily learn from tutorials from there.

1.Read the help file
2.Reat the tutorials
3.Remake the tutorials 2 times with and look back at it if you need help
4.Remake the tutorial without looking at it
5.Try to add some stuff yourself
6.Ask me for l.a.m.e. opensource

"There" can be here at MFGG or at YoYoGames. Though that´d be for GM7.

Yeah...and as I don't want to pay 20$ for GM7, I'm just going to stick with 6.1...

You said you have GM6.1 registered.....you know, you can easily switch to GM7, there´s a GM6 to GM7 key converter at YoYoGames......

Oops, my bad. I said put transparent on in the sprite, but it should have visible off on the object properties instead. Sorry.
