I think they should pop out more, so that it's simple to see.

and a word of advice, if we use Lateral Game Maker, we can't throw anything TOO fancy in here, this is the voice of experience: it's not a perfect program, but it's good for a simple game like breakout so we should be fine

Yours weren't bad at all, they just didn't pop out enough to see them.
All I did was make it thicker, use the darkest color of the block as the outline, and fill it in white with some anti-aliasing inside.

I took glukom's advice and made them a little bigger.



I have a dithered one, a non-dithered one, and then two anti-analised(sp?) versions.
I'll color the next versions.

The Dithered Non-Antialiased one looks better it looks more round.

Anyone have any ways I could improve it? If not, I'm going to start colored versions.

Maybe a little smaller now, we don't want it too big.
And I don't really like the dithered ones... But I never really like dithering on anything more than 2 shades.
Also, it doesn't really look like it has a shine too much... The shading is a little odd.
I'll try to edit it up a bit if you want, to see if I can get it a little better.

Wow, my ball looks like crap compared to yours shymouse >_<. The only thing I would say is, make it smaller and a little lighter, since it looks kind of like a cannonball right now. I still have to do the paddle, which I'll get started on in a minute.

Also, I took the liberty of doing another full block-powerup set based on Mr. Cintrak's list:



Seperate icons are at the bottom for easy copypasta. Hopefully they're good enough. :D

The more you hit this item, (look at the example bars) the slower the bar gets and the color of the bar will keep turning grayer and grayer.

Not bad. Some of the icons are a little odd, but I could probably touch them up easily if you want..

Also, shymouse, I'm having trouble with the ball. I've always hated shading shiny things.
My best advice is to make it smaller for now.

I'm guessing you mean the division sign and the 2? I probably need to edit the 2 a little, because now that I think about it it doesn't really fit in with the 5. The division sign is like that because it looked weird if the 2 dots were seperate, and I wanted it to be the same size as the multiplication sign.

The division's alright, and you're right about the 2.
What bother's me the most is the bomb though.

How about using a "/" for the division?



Also, what's the size going to be for this? Those blocks look a bit too big for the traditional 320x240.

Hello everyone.

I'd like to point out that I created bricks and balls already to Guinea's specifications. In the screenshot, those are ones I made today- we already have bricks and balls. Glukom's follow my style, but different bricks can be made for different levels. As the spriting leader, I'd say you guys are doing a fairly good job- just aim for my style in the screenshot.

Made my bricks the same size as Dex's in the screen.
Also, considering they're so small, actual text on them probably won't work. We'll have to make the colors stand for something in the game.

Also, other than different themed bricks, we should use Dex's sprites
(like he said), like the ball and stuff.
