Is anyone even working on this, it seems like for a while this has been exactly the same, and don't get all angry at me saying "You're not doing anything!", I really am not to good at scripting, and most sprites and backgrounds I can make well don't work for this genre. But if we act like this on the real one (that is if we even finish this and get one) than we don't want to do this and let it die, if you are working on it, at least say something, keeping this bumped will remind other people to work too.
Well, looking at this, there is some activity, but not nearly as much as it was when we started or anywhere else during this, we need to get this done ASAP, and a small bit of progress once a day won't cut it.
The last time there was a lot of things per a day was talking about avatar, if you were you're banished (if you saw it you should get it, if not don't worry, it means nothing).

You can very well control a breakout game. Depending on the position the ball and the bat meet, the ball will get a different direction. This way you could decide to first clear the left side of the screen, then have the ball go on top of the bricks and do some damage while you keep waiting below.
You could aim to get a power-up first that allows you to shoot difficult bricks with the bar itself (assumed that somebody eventually added such a powerup) or other stuff.
So, yes, strategy is possible in Breakout, just like it is in Space Invaders and Tetris.

No, the boss isn't done yet. But it's getting there. Spriters, please create a series of boss animations. The boss needs to be about 32x32 or maybe a little bit bigger. It could be something as simple as an angry face. We will need the following poses: - Sleeping
- Crumbles to dust and disappears (while sleeping)
- Awake
- Hurt (less of an "oww..." and more of a "why you little--!")
- Angry (charging up power)
- Angry ("take this!")
- Seriously hurt ("aaaaaarrrrgghhhhh!")
- Collision mask
The boss can only be damaged while it is "sleeping" or "awake". The ball will bounce off harmlessly in any other pose. I also need an "attack brick" animation -- something that can spin through the air and attack the paddle. Any color brick can become an attack brick, and all attack bricks will share the same animation, so you may want to make it flash white or something. EDIT: forgot to mention we also need sound effects. - Crumble to dust
- Hurt
- Power charge
- Attack
- Super power charge
- Super attack
- Explode
I'll post a preview of the boss in a few minutes. Here it is. The boss room currently goes on forever until you lose all your lives. I figure the final version will end after some 5-10 hits. There are a few things that still need to be implemented, such as a starry scrolling background, some additional movement patterns for the boss, and a -- well, you'll see.
