I'd like to start out this quick review by sharing my thoughts on the look of this movie. No Pixar movie has ever appealed to me in trailers, they always look terrible. And when I first saw this preview I thought it looked terrible. But Pixar always pulls through and I have yet to see a bad movie come out of that studio. I'm very glad to say that this fact remains after viewing their latest film. Not only does it live up to Pixar standard, WALL•E is probably the best movie I have ever seen come out of this studio. WALL•E is the story of a robot who is the last of his kind. He was built by a large corporate empire to help clean up the word of their pollutions. But as we see in the first five minutes, this plan has failed and WALL•E is all that is left. When another robot is dropped off on Earth for another task, WALL•E begins to feel human emotions and struggles with how to deal with them. What follows is a masterpiece, both visual and story wise. If you had any doubt anyway, WALL•E is Pixar's most beautiful film yet. The first ten minutes will literally leave you breathless. It's also interesting to see live action woven in with computer animation for the first time, but don't worry it works amazingly well. But WALL•E isn't all visuals. It features one of the most complex characters to ever be rendered on a computer. We discover how human WALL•E is with the way his acts and desires come out, which I'm surprised to say felt a lot more real then real action movies. Pixar is the only studio I know that can make you feel deep emotions over a robot. A robot! A robot that doesn't talk!! Or even his pal, a cockroach. (And I hate cockroaches) There are so many lessons and undertones in this movie, it's astonishing how they fit all of them in. The film features a bunch of hilarious gags, and a cool Pong reference, as well as a beautiful score that adds a ton to the already fantastic atmosphere. The film is directed by the Finding Nemo director and let me say, he has really outdone himself. If you loved that film, you will love this film. While I think Toy Story is still my favorite, for sentimental reasons, WALL•E is a damn close second. Just when you though Pixar couldn't get any better, here they go again raising the bar for all animation studios to follow. A perfect, 10/10 This post has been edited by Mario Gamer on Jun 27 2008, 02:46 AM
