I've decided to enter the minigame comp. again, however, for what I have planned for this game, it might be bigger than a minigame. What makes it seemingly longer is the battles. Oh I'd better get to telling you about the game.

I've been wanting to experiment with battle system skills so what better time to do so than in a minigame competition?

You start out with Bowser and his minions preparing an attack on Mario. Once all the minions leave, one koopa is left behind, this is your koopa, Frank, main protagonist of the game. He's just your average green shelled koopa, nothing special. Anyway, as Frank you start trying to follow the others when Bowser orders you to follow, so of course, do so and then Bowser tells you to train since you're a rookie. Not a bad idea really.

So once Bowser leaves, you fight the goombas to train and get a feel for what the game is going to be like. Once you complete your training Bowser will allow you to go on missions. Some missions you might have a partner, others you may go solo. And as you level up from battles, you go up in the ranks, from koopa, to paratroopa, to Lakitu, to Hammer Bro. And as you get stronger you can start ordering around your rookies. And maybe even take Bowser's spot!

So far all I have is the beginning and the training. There will be much more, believe me.

This demo really is short, but what makes it feel possibly long, is the battles.

Totally didn't see this coming as the first boss did you?

Controls:
Overworld
Arrow Keys: Move left/right
Shift: Jump
Control: Slide in your shell

In battle
Up and Down Arrow Keys: Swap between attacking and using a mushroom to heal
Shift: Hit the selection you want
Z: Confirm enemy choice

And the level up system is based on kills. I'm not good with exp. and such, I kept it simply at kills.

There's not much to do in this demo, just a couple of battles to get used to the way the game runs and a little storyline. Hope you enjoy though!

If you find any glitches please tell me

Known Glitches
If you press Z before you get all the way down from your selection choice, Frank will attack in midair, possibly landing you in an endless loop of shell sliding. So make sure you let him land
If you dodge the third goomba in the second battle he'll be stuck in an endless loop, dodging wasn't supposed to be in the battle the first place.

For what I have planned, this may turn out being a longer game and not so much a minigame any more. But I guess we'll see what happens.

You can also die now, and when you start over after the game over screen it brings you back where you were, need to fix that.

For some reason it won't let me upload the .exe so you have to get it from sendspace

The story is good but battles need more oomph or something.I also didn't lthe battle music itself.I wonder how many partners will be in this.

I have played this demo, I think that I beat it, there are some glitches, Frank can leaves of the screen, a Goomba can be stuck in the battle when Frank dodges an attack, Frank sometimes can jump in the battle when I press the Shift key.

Yeah I need to fix the screen thing definitely. And once you're done with the 2 battles, you're done, I didn't add anything fancy to say it's over. And goomba being stuck in battle when Frank dodges? Odd, Frank's not supposed to be able to dodge yet. And he should only be able to jump when choosing to attack/use an item

EDIT: I see the glitch you're talking about, I can fix this problem right away

@FoxGuy®: What more could I add to add more oomph? Audience, faster paced battling, more options to use when it's your turn? And as for the music I just picked something from MLPIT, not sure what I'm going to use. But that's not that bad is it?

Very nice. I would suggest improving the text. Such as a different font and a text box.

Nice sound and graphics. So far gameplay is good, but I think you should make the battles go just alittle faster. but you did the battle very nice.

Yeah the text is temporary, I'll change that soon. And as for the speed, I thought it was a bit slow myself, I'll fix that.

You technically read my mind.The music was my opinion it can stay.I still wonder is the battling(currently) slow cause you designed it like that or it takes a while for the program to do actions.

I might work with trying to add an audience. We'll see how it goes. As for the reason it's slow, it's just the way it's designed, I set the speed pretty low on the goombas and somewhat lower than what I planned for Frank. An easy fix.

And for more options, I might add running away and obviously more options will come into play during missions.
