Homebrew Channel freeze problem

My friend and I have downloaded the Homebrew Channel beta 8, we went through the TP hack.
We click on the channel, and when we go to load an app it says it's loading. But no matter how long we leave it there it stays at 0%.
And then when we try to exit it also freezes.

In the top left it says "Network not Initialized"

We are trying to get VBA Wii 1.7.2 working
and some Snes9x Wii working.

Did we do something wrong with the directories?
Or do we need to update the channel, and how would we do this?

we put the directories on the mem card as:

g:/apps/vbawii/

in the folder is:
boot.elf
icon.png
meta.XML
and

a Roms and a Saves folder

Make sure you take out any Gamecube Memory cards. If you are loading from the front SD like I do, that is what will fix it, taking out the gamecube cards, then everything will load lickity split.
