(Well its July elsewhere on the globe)
It's summer at MFGG and it's bright and sunny and we're having nice days at the beach and having picnics and skipping down the hillside singing happily. Except people in the southern hemisphere who are supposed to be cold and playing in snow or whatever. Point is, it's good weather. Perfect for being stuck in a darkened room with a computer surfing a Mario fangames website having had little to no sleep for the last three days.

IN THE MONTH THAT WAS JUNE 2008- Forum rules were updated to 5.2. I re-wrote a lot of Yoshiman's parts. It SHOULD be better now, so might be wise to read it again. CCC and badge guides also got an update.
- Squirrel broke the boards for a day causing everyone to operate from the Tropical Splash skin. Klobber returned as admin to make that skin a bit better, then went off again. A huge failure on my part... I should have locked him up before he ran away!
- Squirrel then did what he was intending to do and installed GROUP ICONS, after having suggested it and getting surprisingly positve feedback. A lot of people don't see the need (though they only told me this after I'd wasted my time installing them) but it helps me a lot so I don't care. Also makes the member list look more funky. One point I will make though - an 8 page debate about tiny board images is just plain stupid. Get lives, people! Note that at this time the Tropical Splash skin set hasn't been tweaked like the others. I'll get to it eventually, don't worry.
- PAL Super Smash Bros. Brawl release. I'm allowed to put this here because Yoshiman hyped the US one. I hardly care myself but it's the principle of the thing! Don't think it quite lived up to the hype but that's just me.
- I will also note that the removal of the Brawl discussion forum is inevitable. In fact chances are it'll be gone this time next month and merged with Wii Discussion.
- Donna Noble has left the library.
- Donna Noble has been saved.
- I finally caved in and got an AIM and an MSN account. "black.squirrel@tesco.net" for both. Yes it's odd to have an email as an AIM name, but watyagonnado. I'm using the multi messaging client Pidgin so if needs be, I can be contacted through; Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, Groupwise, ICQ, IRC, MySpaceIM, QQ, SILC, SIMPLE, Sametime, XMPP, Yahoo! and Zephyr (and more with plugins IIRC). Obviously though I haven't registered an account with all these things because I don't think many use them. Anyway feel free to suggest stuffs and whatnot for MFGG, if your PM phobia still exists.
- Community Fangame project pretty much grinded to a halt, and as such I've archived it and whatnot. In its place, there's a NEW community fangame project. The last one was a bit ambitious really, so Guinea and the others have gone for something a bit more simple, a breakout clone, and if that works they're planning on upping the pace up a bit and going for a Mario fangame again. Will it work? WELL HELP OUT AND SEE. Think breakout's boring? HELP MAKE IT MORE INTERESTING.
- MFGG scored 13 regular bans and 2 permabans (and more if you count duplicates). Told you we're running a tighter shift now.

GAME OF THE MONTH: JUNE 2008Site staff more-or-less got their act together this time, so this month's Game of the Month™ is...
Super Luigi Dreams, by Hatmanas recommended by Press Start/AquaMan

Haven't played this one in quite some time. In fact I've not touched it since I made a review at the back-end of 2006 (apart from now obviously, so I could get screenshots). Can't say I'm a huge fan because the sequel looks and plays a lot better, but it's got a cult following and it's complete, which can only be a good thing.
You'll have to excuse the quality of these screenshots, it's a GameMaker rendering bug that Hatman never fixed. Doesn't effect gameplay though.

Luigi goes off to save a fairy-that-is-not-Wanda-from-Mario-&-Wario called Dachi's family, but aside from that it's just a solid platformer with some good ideas. I think I may have become a bit grumpy in regards to MIDIs and SNES graphics so I'm probably not the best person to listen to in terms of a review. But SLD does have six perfect scores which means a lot of people like it. Press Start recommened this anyway so if you want details go bug him =P
Overall it's an MFGG classic, which although hasn't aged well in my opinion, paves the way for Super Luigi Dreams 2 which is better in almost every aspect. That's not to say it isn't worth the download however. Though it does mean that Hatman should finish the sequel if he hasn't already!

Review Drive #9Since you people sucked on the last one and only managed to total three good reviews in a month, I'm reducing it to one game again. Thanks to
Merit Celaire,
Zero Kirby and
Hyper Kirby Fan nonetheless. Proof that just because there's a Kirby in the name, doesn't mean sucking is involved. Expensive flowers are being sent to your house as we speak. Interestingly our last game of the month got more reviews... but hey.
This month's review drive is for
Mario Universal Gravitation, by Ultramarioyeah that's right, I picked a new-ish game for once. Give it some love.

So yeah that's it for this month. Segendo Megabox 3 lost its Chrome Gear Solid 7 exclusivity to the Play-D0 2600. Poor old Segendo, perhaps they'll make big news at 3E?
