I've made some custom letters and I want to make them into a font. The problem is that all of the font making programs I've tried are too complicated to use or aren't importing my images properly. I just want a simple, free font making program that allows me to import the images of my letters to make them into a font. If anyone can provide a link to one I'd be very grateful.

Don't use Cygwin then! You can always use some Linux Live CD.

You... don't know what a Live CD is?!

It's a complete Linux distribution which only runs from a CD. Great for trying out the only one real OS Linux.

The file doesn't seem to work on my computer. Would any one mind if I just sent them the image so that they could make it into a font and send it back to me? That would probably be easier.

Oh, gotcha. You're using a stupid excuse to swap OS's.

See, he wants to make a ****ing font which is no reason to switch goddamned OS's.

Don't even start listing reasons to switch to Linux because only Linux users give a **** -- tell the poor man how to make a damned font

Did I tell him to switch OS? No!

Only using a little Linux Live CD doesn't mean switching OS; it is just a complete Linux system with the ONLY difference that is it boots and runs from a CD, and doesn't make ANY CHANGES to the system.

Got it?

And Frogjester: I'm making the font right now.

And there it is. It's just trying to get people to get Linux. Not to switch, but more like a salesperson playing a business hoax (the kinds where you "do" one thing to get publicity).

However, there's absolutely no reason why anyone would dare or care to download an 700-800MB file just to make a font.

"No. I don't want to get Whinedow$ back ONLY to use FruityLoops."

is the same as:

"No. I don't want to get Linux back ONLY to use LMMS."

Sure you can emulate, but it's generally more faster and better to use programs in their native operating systems.

with the exception of the W word

And what does that have to do with anything? Links for Windows OSs are already up, the topic is over.

The OP needs to be PMed and this topic locked imo. I wish I could PM, but I'm stuck.

1. a linux liveCD is a useful thing to have no matter what operating system you use. microsoft even has a little guide to using linux to troubleshoot a broken windows install. it is handy to have one in case your system goes south or in case you need to run something that's not available for your native OS but is available for linux. he's making a valid point and trying to help, stop jumping on him for "trying to convert people"

2. you're off by a factor of two. I've got plenty of liveCDs that were 400MB or so

1. In this case, he is trying to get people to get Linux. Read his posts carefully. He immediately came out of the gate saying "GET LINUX". It's pointless now because the topic is over.

Though you are right; I keep an Ubuntu liveCD somewhere just in the case that happens. I've never [had to] use it yet, though.

2. I was thinking Ubuntu when I said that. I recall Dreamlinux having a 400MB liveCD.
