Left Group: Members Posts: 1403 Member No.: 3282 Joined: 9-February 07 Status: (0d)	My computer background now looks like this after I had my Virus protection scan and delete 2 threats. Does this mean that there is somthing still there? If so, how can I get it off? My virus protection By the way is AVG Free Edition. Also, when I try to let it do a complete scan, after about 5 minutes I get the blue screen of death. I don't remember what it says and I don't intend on letting it happen again just to see it. --------------------

Should I be concerned? Group: Members Posts: 992 Member No.: 3387 Joined: 2-March 07 Status: (0d)	I assume you know this, but whatever you do, DON'T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING THAT IT SAYS TO DOWNLOAD. If it says "Your computer has viruses! Download this!" or something like it shows there, DON'T DOWNLOAD IT. Those are scams generated by the virus. Here's what I would do first. 1. Press ctrl+alt+del and go into "processes", look for any suspicious exes running on the list. If you think that something on there that's running could be potentially dangerous, end that process. 2. Go into the directory C:\Program Files and look for any suspicious folders you don't remember being there before or that you didn't download yourself. If you find one, just be pretty damn sure it's not important before you kill it. 3. Get avast! antivirus. This is by far the best malware security program I can think of. I had a problem like this a few months ago, and avast! fixed it. When you download it, run a system scan that makes you reboot your computer. When your computer restarts, it will bring you to a Windows XP command prompt type thing. When it finds a virus, it will give you 10 options. I would prefer to quarantine the file. Yeah, I never do those thing. What I thought I was downloaded was some video codec thingy or plugin or something. When I clicked on the .exe file the background changed to this and there were popups everywhere. I just pulled the electricity plug out.

Why do you waste your time reading this? Group: Members Posts: 1622 Member No.: 3041 Joined: 9-December 06 Status: (0d)	Avast is very slow and not recommended, had it myself and when I installed a different antivirusscan it detected 6 more virusses that avg couldn't detect. For spyware I suggest uniblue spyeraser --------------------
