Hey MFGGers,

I'm looking for a database example/tutorial. I need a feature that the game can read specific stuff from a Database (the database is online (maybe a mysql dababase) or on the servercomputer) like Character Names, Character Level and so on. Also there should be a "send a specific string/value to the database (e.g. PlayerX is dead then change the line "isplayerxdead") in the database to "yes"" feature, too.
I use MMF2 (Standard). I though I could use the Ini Extension but I don't know how to load stuff from an .ini-file from another computer. I'm new to the Database-stuff. (It's for my MMORPG 'MFGGK2').

Thanks in advance,
~Raikyo.

RII made an online highscore database example

it shouldn't be too hard to change it to how you need it

Just to be clear, reading and writing from the database will be slow due to the connection overhead. Try and do all your reading in the beginning and writing at the end if you can, and work with local data in-between.

And yes, the high score database should be a pretty good example of how to deal with it.

thanks for the informations.

Another question: is it good to use a database system to load the characters name, level, (maybe the equipment like headgears) and so on? or are there other possibilities?
And what is the best way to transfer the characters animation and position?
client to client, client to server and then back to the client or something else?
