You're proud that you spent next to know time on your art?

Because it's rather obvious. I don't mean to be over-critical, but it's kind of an offense to people that actually put time into their art when you proudly broacast that you only spent seven minutes. I think you could do alot better if you actually tried to use some realistic proportions on your character, especially in the face. And spent some time colouring better. I don't doubt your skill -- it looks like you could do something great if you just focused for long enough.

Host it on Iaza, Imageshack, Tinypic or something and link to it in your sig.

I didn't really want to put any time into this. I'm just suprised that this turned out so well. That's why I'm saying that I made this in 7 minutes.

And it's chibi. That's why the porportions are off.

My scanner sucks, that's for the bad colors.

I didn't really want to focus on this because I just wanted to doodle. And this was born.

Funny thing is that when I spend almost no time at all on something, its good, but when I focus, it turns bad...

Even if it's Chibi, it still has proportion, albeit distorted proportion.

No one cares about how long it took you to make a piece of art. We care about quality work.

Saying such things makes your head seem a little big, I dunno. Such pride in swiftness makes critics harsher on the grade.

"Chibis" have proportions too, albeit distorted ones. Their arms usually end around their thighs, arms and legs can be bent at the center, etc. Drawn otherwise, the characters tend to look alien and unnatural. It's the proportions that make it human. I rather loathe how people justify completely misshapen figures by passing them off as "chibi" or "anime," and saying that such things don't have human proportions. You need to know standard proportions in order to distort them correctly, just like you have to know the basics of something before you go about changing it and personalizing it. If you try to skip the learning step, your art turns out completely unaesthetic.

The colours you chose were fine, but your colouring is still rough. It comes off in the hasty, grainy strokes.

Also, isn't that what the WIP forum is for?

Thanks, officer, I never said he shouldn't post in the art forum. I said he should perhaps consider posting it in the section devoted more to quick works and WIPs.

The purpous of the time-and-effort rule is to deter spamming and non-serious artwork, at least in my opinion.

If the point of this was to make something that looks good in a minimal amount of time, then I think it was accomplished quite well.

While it's not detailed, it has a distinct style about it. Could use a little ink to give it more precision, but aside from that it's cute.

Not to be mean or anything, but for seven mins this is mediocre at best.

What bothers me the most is the hair ... What is going on there? Weird hair reflection as well.

Take some time, make a good quality drawing, then post it. Or post this in the sketch thread. I really don't think the Art board should be filled with just random 5 - 7 min. doodles.

I can be if they are GOOD 5-7 minute doodles, which this one is.
