So I posted this on another forum, but it didn't get any replies. Here's hoping MFGG actually has somebody who is interested enough to actually say something. xP
So I'm sitting around wondering about the next Pikmin game. They're more than likely going to add new Pikmin, but what will they look like? I've come to kind of a conclusion on two new colors of Pikmin; Green and Orange. As Purple is a secondary color, and purple Pikmin have a different body type than others, I predict that other secondary-colored Pikmin would also have slightly different from normal body types.
As obvious to anybody who found Bulbmin underground in Pikmin 2, they are the green Pikmin. How is this known? When they are separated from the group, standing idle, their leaves glow green. Also, it is said Bulbmin are Pikmin that burrowed into the brains of monsters to control them. This leads me to believe a green Pikmin would have somewhat of a leech-like behavior.
I think they would appear somewhat longer than the average Pikmin. Whereas purples were very heavyset, these are slender, and their arms and legs seem slightly like a plant's roots. They use these to latch onto their enemies, giving them more stability. While they are weak and slow, it takes monsters two tries to buck them off rather than one, and they are also perfectly rooted when wind would blow other Pikmin away. Also, if a monster is defeated with enough green Pikmin latched on at the same time, the Pikmin burrow into its head. When Pikmin are burrowed, more can come to help them, and the monster comes under the player's control. (Though with somewhat akward movements compared to the living monster). If the Pikmin are retrieved from the monster, the monster cannot be reentered. This would also take a great amount of Pikmin to do. Green Pikmin also have rosy cheeks as their facial feature.
Orange Pikmin are 100% new. Orange, a color of intensity, would logically reflect some sort of hardiness in the Pikmin. I predict that orange Pikmin would have somewhat stronger-looking arms and legs. Not very distracting, but at least a bit noticeable. Because of this, they are very fast. Even the orange leaf Pikmin run as fast as white flower Pikmin. They're the only ones who can really keep up with the player after the speed-enhancing boots have been found. They also attack much faster than other Pikmin. While they aren't as powerful as reds or purples, their speed almost makes up for that. Being rather hardy, they are also resistant to explosions. While they'll still be knocked back, they will not die from an explosion. I also suggest that they be able to wield bomb-rocks as the yellows did in Pikmin 1, but that would somewhat take away from continuity. Orange Pikmin have large eyebrows as their facial feature.
Both of these new types must be found underground like the purples and whites, just as the Bulbmin can only be found underground. Probably candypop flowers.
Both new colors will require some way of storage, but if we have an onion for every color, we'd end up with 7 onions, which would be way too crowded. Keeping them in the ship like last time would also be really crowded. Perhaps there could be one onion that houses the secondary colors? Doesn't feel quite right... Maybe only a certain amount of colors can be taken to the planet at a time? Seems a bit unfair. They'll think of something!

| QUOTE (Draco Icebane @ Jul 12 2008, 08:22 AM) | | Pikmin 2 on GCN had two captains with 100 Pikmin each max and it seemed to turn out just fine, so I don't see why not. |
Two captains with a hundred Pikmin together, it was.
In VS mode, the game was shown out of two different points of views, which means that as a total, the game showed 200 Pikmin at the same time, and that's excluding enemies and captains.
If a four-player VS mode with 50 Pikmin each is featured in Pikmin 3, the Wii would need to handle up to 800 Pikmin; a maximum of 200 per quarter of the screen. If we assume that each player has 25 Pikmin, that's still the double amount Pikmin 2 ever showed at once.
So that's why I'm wondering. :P
