Original Pencil Version: [link]

I'm practicing coloring with the new tablet and Photoshop that came with it. I think I did a pretty good job considering it's my first. Don't you?

Also coloring this took longer than I though it would. Maybe because I didn't use the color bucket tool as much as I thought I would.

Maybe you guys will finally get to see some new comics in color soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

Pretty good, although the shading on the clothes look weird.

Some parts could be shaded better (such as the pants), but what struck me first was that the head has a really convincing three dimensional feel to it. Haha, so good job with that.

Other than the shading thing I mentioned, its a pretty sweet picture.

Can you be a little more specific on how to change the shading on the pants? I really do want to change it if I knew what to do exactly. Do you mean I should join the shadow of the shirt and the pants together?

And thanks for your imput guys. biggrin.gif

The shading seems very... circular. I'd thicken the shading closest to the shirt. It gets really thin at the top, but everywhere else it never gets quite that skinny... well this is all hard to explain so I'll just show you in a quick MS Paint example.

The newest one is great, nice job.
Though, I don't know if it was intentional or not, but the right hand isn't shaded. It's not that big of a problem, I just figured I should point it out.

Yea, I couldn't figure out a way to shade it without it looking wonky... :/

Cute picture, indeed. You should try playing around with lineart width, though -- like making the outside lines thicker, or making longer lines thicker at one end, then thinner at another. It would add a certain three dimensionality to your lineart to compliment your coloured piece. Also, try using the "brush" tool as opposed to the "pencil" tool for softer lines. The "pencil" produces pixely, awkward lines which are nice for creating masks, but don't look as good in the final image. Very nice, though, keep it up!
