Game development problem

Here's the deal; I strike up a great idea for a game that would actually work, I get some opinions of my ideas and people end up getting hyped for it.

I go to town on drawing all the status pictures so I have a cool looking HUD for when you play the game. Since I have done every single one of my own projects alone because I simply can't get along with team members because they have these ****ty ideas like a Mario and Sonic cameo appearance and I have sworn to steer clear from people helping me out on my projects.


The problem: I can only hold a great deal of interest in my games for a certain amount of time but working alone especially when I do my own spriting consumes ****LOADS of time.

Because I am burdened with so much work, I find myself racing to my computer pumping with enthusiasm to get **** done but then immediately get discouraged because of the time factor and this is why a couple of my projects have ever seen life past demo.


Anyone can relate?

I have no artistic/musical talent so I never run into that kind of problem.

Same here.

I just get premade stuff and slap it together.

A lot of the resources I use is premade but I feel that the main character(s) have to be original. I have no problem coming up with the first sprite sheet but then it gets stupid where I actually start spriting them as if they were wearing armor and whatnot.

It's ****ing annoying, isn't it?

I know exactly how you feel, bro.

I can't keep interest because for some reason, my brain always thinks that what I make is only fun to me and no one else.

This is why I haven't finished a game in 3 years.

That's actually why I never released my two completed projects because they were very ****ty but I had one hell of a time making them.

I did release one demo on the internet a few years ago but it was an ABS (Action Battle System. Hint: Zelda) and was all a matter of hitting the enter key as fast as you can in order to peg off the hordes of enemies coming your way. It didn't make it past a demo unfortunately :(.


I find that games that appeal to others never make it past screenshots. Maybe I'll post a couple

Also I never think any of the programming will end up being worth it in the end.

I just never want to bother with opening Game Maker and working. :/

your problem isn't that you can't work with people
it's that you can't work with stupid people or 12yo's.
try finding smart/mature people ???

my problem is that i don't plan **** out first so i do a lot of work that i throw away later on :3

You realise how rare that is on the internet?

okay, is there some alternative way to spell words that are supposed to end with "ize" with "ise" or do a lot of people here have trouble with that?

I'm pretty much nazi when it comes to spelling but realize oddly enough is the one word I have trouble spelling correctly.

yes it's called british english

ie inferior english

that's what I expected but some of the people I see doing it I don't think are european
