The lonely Chozo

Don't even want to know how many hours I spent on this .. never undertook something this big before. For some unofficial drawing competition at M:FM for the themes "Defeat" and "Loneliness". The scene is the Arboretum room from Metroid Prime, with a single Chozo Ghost standing in ethereal goodness.

That is absolutely astonishing! The background actually looks like its from PM:TTYD.

You're an awesome artist and I had no idea until now. :O

(Unless one counts photography, that is.)

It reminds me of a stage in a video game where you climbed up these platforms on a tree in order to get to the top. I think it was from the first Banjo Kazooie game. I really like the composition, and am jealous of your rendering ability. I'm really no good at backgrounds.

But one thing -- it sort of lacks a defining shadow. It feels sort of flat because there's not a big contrast between light and dark areas.

Looks awesome. But yea like Mrs. Aforcer said, needs a bit better contrast, then it´d be perfect! =D

It looked firstly like a PM-ish tree scrolling down, then I saw some Okami in there, and then I saw the amazing art on top of the kickass style.

The only thing I'd pick on is to make parts darker, loving the sketchy chozo ghost

Is that Chozo supposed to be white or is it in the early stages of drawing?

In Prime they were ghosts, so kinda a flickery blue-white energy field. So yeah it's intended to be that way.

The background is awesome, but the chozo ghost is just...kinda..standing there. His pose really doesn't add to the theme of "Loneliness" the way he's posed he looks like hes waiting in line at the DMV. If you tried a more dramatic pose it would really add more to the drawing. His current pose conveys no emotion.

The "shroom" platforms could be better with a little more detail and perhaps some thick lines to give it a burly texture, same with the vines and trees too. throw in some dot speckling to make it look more natural and nature like.

And 'fer sheets and giggles make him glow blue. That'd be awesome.
