WIP Reference Picture

Comments, critiques, ideas, etc. are welcome. Keep in mind I was more out to formulate the design, not the proportions and anatomy, which may coincidentally be a little off. After I get some comments, I'll colour it up.

How cute! I love the ferocity which contrasts with her cute face :P. The way she's holding the axe though looks weird to me.

Pretty cool. However, I suggest that you simplify her design a little more. Adding a couple of eye-catching details is more effective than adding a hundred of them. You added a bit too much detail to her design, IMO.

Loving the writing next to her though ;p

I've never been too good at drawing hands holding things like pencils, hammers, axes, or anything for that matter.

Hm... I'll think about it, but the way I see it, if she were to be redrawn -- it would be the reproduction artist's choice whether to simplify the detail (i.e. not draw the details on the armor, not draw the strings on the glove, draw the axe simpler, et al), not the original artist's job. For example, here's an original sketch of Haseo from .hack//GU:



And here's how the same artist team translated it into a simpler design for the anime; alot of the minor details have been removed:

However, all the pictures are identifiable as Haseo despite how many details have been omitted. I figure whoever draws this character -- whether it be me or someone else -- can be the judge of which details can be left and which can be taken out.
