QUOTE (Draco Icebane @ Jul 22 2008, 02:40 AM)
If there's no such thing as space and time, can you think of anything else that exists?

Nothing's around, so there's nothing there to define any rules. If there aren't any rules, why shouldn't any arbitrary event happen as it damn well pleases?

Because there is nothing for it to come from.

QUOTE (Draco Icebane @ Jul 22 2008, 02:35 AM)
Viruses, computer or organic, aren't considered "life", because they can't reproduce by themselves (they hijack body cells to do this for them), and they don't breathe.

This is so openly contested between biologists. I'm really into virology currently and I always side with then being life.

EDIT: And you mean respire not breathe. Polyps don't breathe.

This nothing to something argument is just all speculation. If you trace back the expanding universe, taking into account the deconstruction of all matter into energy you get to a point where all energy in the known universe was converged on a single point.

The real question is how did this singularity form? I'm going with the cyclical universe. Unfortunately to prove the point we'd all have to be dead or dying so that's why I stick to biology and avoid physics at all costs.

Oh someone cares what we think i think life was created similar to the astrode thing but ... no, no asteriod. the main star when into the big red stat and exploded then the dust and stuff started to form smaller stars and the smaller stars gravity collected more dust and it formed planets. our planet was just far away enouph to sustain life. then the bactreia one this planet had time to evalve into prehastoric stuff so on and so forth with evalution. then my favorate part the monkeys evolve into homosapean <-- Caveman like man but not yet. then they evalve more and we get us! homosapeansapean. sorry but for me no god no adam and eve.=P

bactreia

You mean single celled life.

Our common ancestor with bacteria is so close to original cells that it is impossible vague. We are eukaryotes. BE PROUD.

Don't even bother learning hominid taxonomy. It changes more than any other.

You would never read it Homo sapien sapien unless in comparison to another closely related hominid ie Homo sapiens idaltu

QUOTE (Mr. Aforcer @ Jul 22 2008, 04:11 AM)
The question is why did space and time start existing.

I'm glad no one made a Dalgia/Palkia reference. Anyway, despite my "We don't know CRAP" comment, this is true:

Existence=Existence

SOMETHING existed for us to exist. But I'm not sure if human beings will grasp the idea of what it is exactly.

It's known that the universe isn't infinate/hasn't always existed, but it's a question of whether it came from nothing (sounds impossible) or from something.

Christianity is about believing that something is God.

Edit:
But the book makes no sense XD

it's entirely possible that space and time have ALWAYS existed and never actually "started"

i believe natural selection occurs so animals adapt to their habitat.
that makes sense to me.

But from what I've learned evolution is like Bacteria-> Fish -> Monkey -> Human.

I don't understand why that works, and if it was true, why don't we see it happening today?
