How can the universe not have an infinite amount of time before now? Time is just a delusion, anyways.

Time is a measurement, far from a delusion. If it was a delusion you wouldn't have been able to read this topic wink.gif

Edit:
Actually, if it was infinate, you'd have read this topic before you were born!

Time is a concept created by the mind to "explain" the passing of events. It only exists in this dimension and higher dimensions; conversely, anything in the third or lower dimensions only exist for one instant of what would be time. Time is linked to space, and space is infinite.

Time perception can be altered easily. Small fluctuation in time perception happen all the time. Philosophically it is a delusion.

Physics-wise it's ****ing really difficult to alter time passing without super science awesomeness.

The argument of infinite universe being impossible is flawed. If I said "You get this apple after an infinite amount of time.", the question is not "Will you get the apple?" but more "Would lots of stuff happen before you got the apple?"

Exactly, time is what is used to describe the passing of events, and as I say, there is no infinate amount of events, if there was, there'd just be a mess. If there was no first event, there'd be no millionth event, and so, you'd have read this topic before being born biggrin.gif

And space is not infinate, space is just the gap between to objects! If that was infinate, there'd be no objects.

The point is, stuff would just keep happening and there'd be no apple ... =\

All this is no.

Existence if infinite. You can't pick the nth event from the beginning of time like you say. But I can pick events on a measurable time scale and base the start and end of other events on those.

Yes. There is no end to infinity. No one is arguing against this except people that believe in a first cause.

You're misdefining space, and order of events. What is the lowest number? That's when the universe began. What is the highest number? That's the event number of when the universe ends.

Space, in my usage, is the all-encompassing physical plane of our universe.

All I mean is if it was infinate, all of this would have already happened and in no order. So, it makes sense!

I obviously don't know the truth guys! Just saying what I think is probably right smile.gif

No, Infinite does not mean "random order." Infinite merely means no beginning and no end.

But what defines the order of something with no start and no end? What can you say? That a certain event was closer to the start than the end, when there's neither of both. There'd be no order in infinity, I'd think???

Infinite doesn't necessarily imply cyclical.

just because the events are unable to be numbered doesn't mean they don't happen in order

Start counting at zero. Keep counting until you reach the higest number ever. See what I mean?

EDIT: To clarify, the universe just keeps going on and on in one long incredibly unbroken sentence sequence; never ending, never beginning.

Well, I know that could be true, but if there was infinity, then this would have all already happened, so you'd just know it instantly, which defeats the point in anything happening in any order ... ?

But you'd never start at zero, if it was infinate you'd have always been counting, so there'd be no number you'd be on. This is mashing my mind XD

I don't mean to be stuborn, but doesn't anyone think infinate is messed up ???
