I am not saying to lie to yourself. I am saying to agree to disagree. You have your feelings, as is your right.

what about both

You can be both, but when it gets to the point that you are really putting a lot of your time and effort into trying to prove someone else wrong, you have to make that call.

Should you:

a) Keep trying to be right and WASTE a lot more of your energy

or

b) Agree to disagree and be done with the matter



I know people that complain that some Christians wish to "convert" them to their religion. How is this any different?

I'm not happy when there's people running around telling me and my friends what we should and shouldn't do, starting wars and trying to derail all of the amazing Scientific research going on. Not happy at all.

You can have you beliefs and all that, but you can't say others are wrong.

That does suck, don't get me wrong on that. It is hard on a person, but all you can do is accept the world as it comes at you. If someone is doing something you don't want them to do, ask them nicely to stop.

What other people do with their personal lives is not your business.


But again, don't get the feeling that I'm saying that this is easy. What I'm suggesting is not easy. It takes a lot in a person, but I think it's very rewarding in the end.

I agree with you on that. Other peoples's personal beliefs are just that, personal.

But, like I said before, you just have to accept what comes to you. It's not easy, but very rewarding in the end.

See this is the beauty of science. You can learn more all the time, and you can listen to what each scientist has learned and what we, together, have strived to discover. It's not all down in some book which tells you to accept said book as fact or be doomed to suffer in a way that can't be proven you won't.

When we were kids we were told that we should behave or else Santa Claus would give us a lump of coal for christmas. We couldn't prove them wrong so we behaved because we were worried about getting no christmas presents. As we got older we saw the evidence that our parents had been making this up. Some of us ignored the evidence and just hoped (had 'faith') that the evidence was a fluke, even when we saw the strings on those false beards. Some of us didn't. Which of us ended up crying when we were deemed old enough to know the truth?

Difference here is, the people who invented the Bible aren't around to admit to the truth.

Is that what they said on 9/11? "Osama, please stop"? Due to his religion he thinks he's actually doing the world good and will be rewarded. D'you think somebody's going to stop when asked if they're 100% convinced that what they're doing is something they must do?

How can you compare God to Santa Claus?

I'm sure we all know Santa doesn't exist. That's a proven fact. But dismissing what someone else believes is true as a fairy tale is downright rude.

You don't see me parading about, shouting at every atheist that God exists and they should go **** themselves.

If anything, the REAL fairy tale is Scientology. That's something that we all can agree on.

Sir, all I post is what works for me in my life and what works for the people around me. If you think what I say is pointless and stupid, then don't do it. It's your life and you are the only one that has control over it. All I can do is suggest.

Telling a religious person god doesn't exist is the exact same as telling a child Santa doesn't exist.

Here's some resemblances.
-> No proof either exists
-> Majority of people are indoctrinated to believe they do
-> Have magic powers
-> Break the laws of physics
-> Benevolent
-> Used as fear tactics for children

You can't compare God to Santa Claus.

Both usually depicted with white beards
Both live in a mystical "high" place (Heaven/North Pole factory)
Children send messages to them for stuff
etc., etc.

Santa Claus is a human-made story.

God may be a human-made story also, but there is no proof of that.

Yeah there is. Loads.

Eg: All races who worship a pantheon of gods. The non-existence of religions before they were founded.

God is just a fusion of Zeus and Odin.

Old testament god is almost identical in personality and ideals to Zeus.

Zeus and deity come from the same word.

All images of Zeus were reused as the Abhramic god.
