True. Faith IS a good thing (I mean the verse in Hebrews about faith is my favorite bible line for crying out loud!)

Anyway, I'm going to say I'm an agnostic, which means I believe there might possibly be something (Or I don't care at all.)

Think about it. Assuming the Big Bang was our creation story. It's quite possible that there is a god and he made all of the scientifically proven things happen. (Or he just created something by accident.)

Consider the flip side, and that there is no god, that our entire universe was an entirely random occurance.

Now, I don't care what happens, which is why I don't go through every day sulking about how our life might possibly be pointless. The truth is, with how big the universe is, our lives already ARE pointless.

Okay, that makes sense. Good to know that we are on the same page.


I think that Fender is looking for replies detailing how one would thing life begin completely and totally atheistically. That's just how I read it, though, only Fender can say what he is looking for.

I don't know how I can live (lolz) with that mindset. What do you think about?

Our lives aren't pointless here on Earth, MAYBE not in our Galaxy, but when you look at it through a universal perspective, unless we find the formula for deep space travel before we go extinct, then they're pointless.

there's actually some truth to this: nobody can have certainty when it comes to their religious beliefs. as far as religion goes, it's typically a game of "read some ancient scripture and hope it's right."
however, this thinking usually doesn't apply to non-religion, especially the realm of science. that's more of a game of "research, hypothesize, find evidence, experiment, come up with results, compare the results to what's already known, accept or reject the theory, repeat." this is a logical game (with logical rules) of pursuing knowledge that's "right."
acceptance of scientific knowledge and belief in religion need not be mutually exclusive, of course.
