So, who's taking the MFGG Staff test?

I'm joking, of course. But you know I never trust anything you say, and for good reason.

That's great.

• If you do not recognize the sprite in the first place, it's very unlikely and impractical for you to attempt to determine if it has been stolen. If other administrators are on you can pass it around and see if anyone recognizes it. If not, forget it.
• You should be bloody checking to see if a given sprite is already on the site, which takes all of thirty seconds. I understand that this thirty seconds is multiplicative.
• Marking a submitter's name on the sheet, even with their MFGG account, doesn't prove ownership because they could be posing as the original author anyway. You would need them to hand it to you in person to be 100% sure, unless you are already familiar with and trust the given account.
• Reviews should already be indepth about the game and any good review-reviewer *will* spot biased bullcrap in the article.

Delmore is trying to claim that this test isn't a fair introduction into the delicate art of quality control, since we would have to check for stolen sprites and this factor isn't included in the test.

I'm trying to tell him that not only is it silly to try to include that factor as a static in this test, but also that it's impractical to worry about sprite theft in the first place since if you yourself don't recognize a sprite, and it isn't already on MFGG, there's no real way to check if it's stolen.

You check other big spriting sites. Last test had one stolen from Spriters Resource. It's not silly to assume this at all, and judging by previous posts, I think you're just ignoring everything here for your own sake, which would make some sense, since you meaninglessly just brought up your own afflictions with me.

And my "not trusting anything you say" isn't my own afflictions. A lot of people don't trust what you say, dude.

I hope it wasn't that gigantic sheet of edits. That was just a travesty, stolen or not.

I am not navigating that horrible laggy site just to check for stolen sprites.

Then again, it's only one section (Mario) so I would probably check into it if I was deadly serious (ie. accepted test results). For the purpose of a little ZIP file there's no way I'd be assed.

And there were two stolen submissions last time, and I even got one wrong, since you had to go look at Spriters Resource for it. It wasn't obvious at all, since it was a bunch of sprites from the same game neatly compiled together.

I originally made the post since this test concerned me, since it doesn't feel like enough is being given out to test people here. Detail on the reasons things should be approved or declined is important, as well as not approving of things obviously lacking quality, but there are multiple other things that also take effect on the site itself, and it doesn't feel like everything here is testing people of the most possible for who the best candidate would be and how well they could handle things on the site itself.

This topic was a bad idea; obviously it would lead to this and/or people discussing answers.

A test is a test. If it's unfair or unrealistic it's the markers problem to view the answers in this respect not the person who's taking it.

It was relevant to my stab! And since my stab is over, I am not bringing it up any more except in reply to your mentioning it.

And I should think the staff would not fire you for such a mistake, especially if you later took steps to make sure the person submitting it to MFGG was the same person submitting it to Spriters Resource / correct your error when discovered.

I'm thinking the staff included that "stolen" sheet not to make you check whether it was stolen, but as an example of a good spritesheet, as the test was purely rhetorical.

You wouldn't really get fired for approving of stolen work, but I remember right after new staff was hired, a few submissions were approved and raised some issues since a good chunk were stolen and not obvious, so staff had to be more alert, since it takes some work to go back and remove what was stolen.

I'm not applying. First of all, I have no experience in games (except storyline), i'm horrible at decision making, and theres goining to be a lot of work to do.

I finished and the weird thing is, is that i hade a even nuber of Acceptions to Declined. . . weird
btw does anyone know how many people will be Acceped?
