No, that's the program that runs to play audio files. The playback device is the sound card which is connected to the speaker. On a laptop computer it should be built-in, you just have to install the driver in case the driver was removed. If you have a CD or DVD that came with it, maybe they have drivers there.

Sounds like your drivers for sound were accidentally uninstalled. Here are a few methods you can use to fix it.
1. Go to the Toshiba Website, do a support and drivers search for your laptop's model number, and download the appropraite driver. Not recommended from my experience because ftp on toshiba's site seems to be limited to roughly 10 kbps.

2. Have a look for either a driver reinstall utility on the machine, or a disk that was included with the machine labelled drivers and utilities, and reinstall from that.

3. Login as admin. Right click on My Computer > Manage> Device Manager. Any uninstalled devices will have a ! next to them. Right click on each one in turn, choose "Update Driver" and allow this time only to connect to windows update. Then do an automatic search for the missing driver and wait a while.

Should be good to go after that. You could go the Windows Update website too, but that can be quite slow to begin with if you have not used it before...
