This isn't really a Flash question, like all my other ones, but it involves Flash, so yeah.
These songs I want to use are making this movie huge, even though I'm not using more than half the song in the swf. Plus, the movie isn't even finished the first scene.
So, if I want to compress sound, what is the best way to do it?

use a different format, drop the sample rate, drop the bit rate, make it mono instead of stereo, etc

I've dropped the bit rate to 48, which is the lowest I can get it while still sounding good, and I do set it to mono.
As for the other things, it's in mp3 format, which I'm pretty sure is the most compressed.

Really, I thought I didn't everything to compress it the most I could. D:

Try lowering the sample rate to, say, 22.5 khZ (22050). It should decrease the file size quite a bit, assuming it already isn't at 22.5 kHZ.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do you do that?

I put a 3,2 Megabyte MP3 file into a Flash animation and the outcoming SWF was 1020 kilobytes with these settings:

EDIT: To set this up, go to File > Publish Settings > Flash > yadda yadda

The best way to compress sound is Ogg Vorbis. (But I don't know if Flash supports that or not)
