It's actually not that difficult. Although though the minimum sprite size may seem a bit larger than what you're normally used to, it's not that hard to sprite something between 120x120 and 200x200.

Not if it's King Dedede. You can make the lineart decent, but shading it is annoying.

Also, it's hard to save colors on this guy. I mean, he uses a good number of colors as is, then you nearly double that with shading, plus you may need a few more colors due to shading on the outline and such.
