Fortress Forever - Great if you don't have TF2 or TFC

Pirates, Vikings and Knights II - The name says it all, it's a class-based fighter that puts a different spin on fps by focusing on melee more than ranged attacks

Hidden - Source - A game where you're put on a team of eight players, and you have to work together to take down a single super-athletic (and also invisible) player

SMOD - It's Half-Life 2, but more awesome than before. If you're bored of HL2 then this is a must-try as it really spices things up soveryhappy.gif

Zombie Panic Source
Taken from site

The game works like this:

Everyone joins a server, in the beginning you can either choose to join the human team or you can volunteer to be the first zombie. If no one volunteers the game will pick one human randomly and the game begins. The starter zombie's goal is to, of course kill the humans while the human goal is to stay alive as long as possible, complete objectives, or even wipe out all the zombies. The catch is that when a human is slayed he will simply join the ranks of the undead, now ready to finish off his old living teammates.
The humans can't tell by the player list who's alive and who's not, eventually there will only be one survivor still standing if all goes wrong, facing all the zombies which use to be allies, with his back to a wall. The zombies only have a certain number of reinforcements (lives), when a zombie is killed they lose 1 life from the counter. However, when a human is killed they gain 1 life. If the zombies only have 1 respawn left the humans can win the round by killing off the remaining undead left on the map.

This is the main concept of how the game works but of course, but with additional game modes there is a bit more variety to it.

Human Advantages:

Speed - A zombie can only run at about 80% of the top speed of a human player. Though, the more weaponry and ammo a human picks up, the more it will slow him down tremendously, making him an easy target for the undead. If carrying nothing a human can easily outrun a zombie. Watch out so you don't get cornered...

Weapons - The humans will have a wide selection of different weapons to use for defending themselves, like firearms, explosives and melee weapons. It is essential for humans to locate weapons and ammo around the map in order to survive, since you only spawn with a random melee weapon and handgun scavenging is a must. Remember that your inventory is limited and hogging weapons will slow you down, so sharing with your teammates is a must which also promotes teamwork.

Numbers - At the beginning of the round, there is only one zombie and everyone else is a Survivor. This means that they can easily watch each others backs and provide cover fire. However, once their ammo starts to run dry and they begin to squabble amongst themselves for the few precious clips of ammo available...

Communication - Instead of typing messages to each other (occupying busy hands), which can be really dangerous when the zombies are lurking in the shadows, the humans will have the ability to communicate by voice commands. There will be a menu with several commands that can help the humans to organize a defense, trade ammunition and request help.

Zombie abilities and advantages:

Regeneration - Zombies will over time regenerate hit points making it more difficult for survivors to make dead the undead.

Carrier - The first Zombie of the round will differ a lot from the other undead, he will look different, sound different and have abilities that the average zombie can only dream of. He is the Carrier! More info on this will come later.

Persistence - Zombies may seem to die often, but they won't give up. They just keep re-spawning over and over until your pistol runs out of bullets, your back is to the wall, and there is no escape.

Numbers - Later on in the game, as the undead ranks swell with the freshly dead, the last few humans will find their superior weaponry small compensation for the hordes of zombies that close in.

Zombie Vision - With the zombies not being able to use a flashlight, we have given them the ability to use Zombie Vision. Z-vision works in a way that it brightens up any possible light source in a room to make it more viewable. More importantly, humans that keep active will slowly begin to glow red making it easier for a zombie to track their prey. To prevent games of hide and seek a survivor over a period of time of sitting still will also start to glow red by fear of the unknown.

We want the mod to feel creepy and give you a sense of desperation, and yet not take itself so seriously that you can't laugh at the way you got slayed. Overall fun and playability is the priority, where is realism and horror while important are just a bonus when possible. We want a mod that you can easily play with any number of people, even with small numbers or uneven numbers. Plus, there's a certain sense of satisfaction in tearing apart the heartless survivors who failed to protect you while you were alive, limb from limb.

Just so people know, http://www.moddb.com/mods?filter=t&=Search...ame=61&type=def
Website with like all the HL2 mods out atm.

Anyways my favs are:
Half Life 2: Wars
Heard of Halo: Wars? This is HL2 wars, basically an rts that lets you play through player-made scenarios in the HL2 universe, you can be the combine and fight off antilions, you can be the resistance and save some of your buddies from a house surrounded by headcrab zombies, overall, something you should really play if you love Half Life.

The mod is still in development, but people make scenarios on the forums.

This is pretty much my favorite HL2 mod, PLAY IT!

Oh, and I almost forgot, you can Play on-****ing-line!

Kreedz Climbing
KMOD is for all the old fans of CS surf and climb maps. They basically took that concept and made a mod that focused on these things. The maps have themes like "get out of jail" or "climb that mountain" and whoever gets there first wins the round and gets to do **** to the people still climbing.

The game is really frustrating but its a good pastime and really fun if you get good at it.

Thats all for now, I'll post a few more, all I can say is PLAY HL2 WARS!!!

Perfect Dark Source
The current build is actually broken. You can't join any servers. But back when it was working, it was awesome. I'm really hoping they fix it soon.

Pros
-Lots of classic Perfect Dark Weapons (Falcon 2, Superdragon, Shotgun, RCP-120, Grenade, Shield, Magsek 4, Rocket Launcher, Dragon, Combat Knife, Mauler, CMP150)
-Several Perfect Dark Stages Redesigned (Villa, Complex, Felicity, Ravine)
-Very nice graphics

Cons
-Current Beta build is broken
-Still in beta, so there are a few bugs.

Goldeneye: Source

Pros
- Relive the classic multiplayer battles from the N64 version, but with more people
- Accurately recreated weapons
- Accurately recreated levels with very much needed updates

Cons
- Still in beta, so you might run into some issues.
- Some weapons are under/overpowered (for example, the slappers are more powerful than the knife)

Where are all the Half-Life 1 mods? God you kids and your lack of Half-Life. Guess I'll have to do it.

Sven-Coop

I'd compare this to HL2's Synergy, only I think this is a lot better.

If you haven't guessed, it's pretty much Half-Life 1 with co-op. However, what's great about this game is that it has a large community. There are literally thousands of maps that you can download. Most of these maps use their own textures, models, and skins, so it's like you're playing a different game with each map.

The best part is that it's Half-Life 1; a server with 30 people won't cause too much lag.

Pros:
- a ton of custom content
- has plenty of addons (like RP for you RP Gmod fans)
- low-spec; any computer should be able to run it perfectly
- ENT MOD!!! (it's like gmod for gold src games)

Cons:
- all of the custom content can eat up your hard drive

The Specialists

Think Matrix Online. It's pretty much a deathmatch game, except you can do a lot of kick ass matrix-like stuff, such as diving, wall jumping, kicking people's guns away, frontflipd, backflips, and a lot of stuff. there are also power-ups in the game, such as high jumps and bullet-time.

Pros:
- loads of weapons to choose from
- you can enable third person view so that you can see yourself doing flips and stuff

Cons:
- There are a lot of RP servers

Natural Selection

This is probably the best total conversion for Half-Life that you'll find. Team based game, you choose between space marines or the aliens. There aren't any classes, but instead there is an upgrade system, where you upgrade your weapons and equipment based on what you prefer. You can upgrade to heavy armor, making you look like a walking mech, or you can prefer to sacrifice some armor for a jetpack, allowing you to fly around and carry another player with you. You can upgrade to a heavy machine gun or a grenade laucnher.

The same goes for Aliens. You can upgrade yourself into a hulking elephant like beast or a quicker, sleacker alien that can dash at people.

This game also features a "leader," where one player can occupy a sort of command post. His view will change into a top view of the map, where he can issue commands and set rally points to other players, as well as create weapons for players.

Pros:
- complete makeover. You would not guess that it was a half-life mod.
- great class systems. Both marines and aliens have their own unique gameplay
- there is currently a source version being worked on.

Cons:
- Aliens are freaking hard to use at first (I still can't use them). But if you're good with them, you can take on an army.

Mario Kart: Source
Its still in development, but I am psyched for the day this mod comes out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEzu1SLKB2c - A video of Blockfort and Donut Hole battle testing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCGLv74fzJc - A video with some animations and Skyscraper preview.
This mod is definitely going to be great.

Dystopia
This is a released mod that i play on occasion, there are 2 different classes you can play as heavy, mid, light. Heavies have rocket launchers, other big weapons, and massive health. Light have the least health, pistols, shotguns, but have more customization points. I'm not sure what they are really called, but these points let you enhance your character with things like jump boost, a medic style ability, and hackboards. You use a hacker to enter a computer where you are put in a cyber world and have to hack to open doors for your heavies to go in and kill the defensive team and capture the base. This game is really unique and has a good community.

Wow, that's really come a long way since I've seen it.

I wonder if there's a possibility of custom characters you would be able to add. Driving around as Gordon Freeman would be priceless.

'twas pretty good from what I played, a bit buggy in a few departments, but not bad really. Even better once I found out how to actually build things.

Played through the tutorial-ish level, twas fun, and then got my ass handed to me by ant guards in the defense level.

I'll probably play more later, and download a few more levels. Technically, it's really terrible compared to the controls and features you get in a game that was designed for RTS, and at this time plenty of the units are imbalanced (In online play, it would be so easy to spam turrets outside the enemy base.

Still, a really good find.
