| QUOTE (Grant @ Aug 4 2008, 10:57 PM) | That should have been made WAY clearer in the first post.
Incidentally, has it perhaps occurred to you that the reason people are minimally following requirements and/or not entering is that these characters are, comparatively speaking, really difficult to sprite?
If you disqualify too many things, it'll be no wonder if hardly any entries result and hardly anyone wants to join the competition. |
Difficult? All you have to do is sprite any of the kongs, even Baby DK (well, he is a kong, just wasn't given a reference), and make them like do two actions. I do not see how these are so hard to do.
A, if you don't know the different between to animations and two frames, you need to learn more about spriting.

I don't get how you can think the Kongs aren't difficult to sprite compared to Mario characters. Mario characters' designs are far simpler by and large.
And no, it's still a problem that you didn't make the animation thing clearer. When setting down rules for a competition, you should define your terms so that people don't get confused. I'm not the only one who thought you meant 2 frames, and that's probably partly because I don't remember anyone making a rule about "x number of animations" in a Sprite Comp in the past; there were, on the other hand, rules about "x number of frames". So it's not surprising that there was confusion, and please don't get all elitist on people for being "ignorant" of exact spriting terminology.

| QUOTE (Razz @ Aug 5 2008, 01:03 AM) | The first post says two animations, that means two animations. Not two frames, or two sprites, two animations. I really hate to disagree with you grant, but there's really no other way to be clearer then that.
If you don't know what Animations/Frames are, that's cool. Admit to your mistake, and get over it. |
The problem doesn't lie with Grant; rather, the wording of the post, combined with the ignorance of others (who actually don't know the difference), also coupled with the fact that Draco only made one animation (yet was somehow qualified) contributed to Grant's (as well as Dr. Light's and my own) confusion.
