I still think that Bombs would work for Waluigi if done like this:
- There's recovery time after he throws a bomb.
- They don't have a huge explosion area.
- ^those two mean that killing two enemies with a bomb was way easier by doing it the regular way, so wouldn't be cheap.
Oh and also: LINK has bombs both from plants and in his inventory, nobody ever complained that that was cheap.
- With bombs, you can destroy blocks below Waluigi as opposed to Wario who can destroy blocks that are higher than the floor. (since bombs fall down to the floor before they explode)
- We could always have blocks that just allow for destruction by bombs and others that allow just for destruction by Charge, similar to the WarioLand blocks which allow only for throwing/fat/fire. you know.

If this is taken into consideration, who is still against bombs?

I think we should take my idea into consideratio as well since people seem to like it.


But I'm wondering if it would be possible for him to have more than 1 bomb that he can switch between. I'm not saying like, 50 or so, but 2, maybe 3 if we make a bomb for underwater.

The digibombs sound well, but they would be too dependand on the environment, IMO.
If it was regular bombs against digibombs (which is most probably the case) I'd go for the regular bombs.

However, the idea of the digibombs could still make it into the game, there might be digibombs to pick up for all bros at points where they are necessary. (Because they would probably have an impact on the gameplay higher than the other special moves, I think it would be good to have those possible for everyone at certain parts.)

HMMMM!

Mario: Fireballs
Luigi: Fireballs (green)
Wario: Super Charge
Waluigi: Digibombs.
(of course, with a time-limit/until you get hurt)

Might work to have this as a powerup.
If anyone wants, you can comment on this.
If such a power-up gets agreed on within this topic we can take that into the planning of the first basic engine.

Why cant luigi get vanish ability? That sounds more fun than a duplicate move.

I think that being effected by Power flower should be the only situation when Waluigi is able to throw bob-ombs. It simply doesn't match his specialty of being the fastest runner.

Also limiting his run on water ability would defeat it's purpose.

Wario should transform to Metal Wario when he gets the power flower (super charge sounds lame to me). He would be able to defeat enemies by just running into them, but it would lower his jumps, worsen his traction and disallow swimming.

I'm probably going to get hurt for suggesting this...

but has anyone considered simply not giving Waluigi a special move? In that event you could either
(A) give Waluigi the best stats out of the four bros., thus justifying his lack of a special move, or
(B) keep Waluigi's stats in line with the other bros., thus making him a good choice for players who fancy a challenge.

Although, xn's suggestion to not give him a special move makes me think... Maybe we shouldn't.

I had a few ideas, most of which are the original ideas explained thoroughly.

Mario:
- He can wall kick. However, this need not undermine Luigi's ability. Because, if you think about it, Mario requires two walls. If there's a high ledge with no wall to kick off of, leave it to Luigi.

Luigi:
- High Jump. If the ledge is way to high up, you'll need Mario to wall kick there instead. This can be used for more than just reaching high platforms, too. Luigi can just as easily hit high up switches that make a bridge appear or a wall disappear (think on/off blocks).

Wario:
- Charge. This is like, Wario's signature move. He can shoulder his way through breakable terrain and damage enemies with this.

Waluigi: (several ideas)
- Bomb. He throws a bomb which can be placed or thrown. When placed, the bomb can be dropped into otherwise unbreakable vases or crevices and will destroy them from the inside. If thrown, they explode on impact, making him useful for out of reach switches.
- Remote bomb. This is pretty self explanatory. The remote bomb is on a timer, has a limited jump, and can self-detonate when triggered. This can be used to reach far-off switches or switches in tiny spaces. The bomb could even collect powerups, meaning that one of the Plumbers doesn't have to touch it themselves.

You know, I'd be fine with Waluigi having bombs if they didn't hurt enemies.
If they stunned them or knocked them back, it'd be fine. Plus, they could still be used for what Pucifur said - out of reach switches and in crevices.

Believe it or not, it was Shigeru Miyamoto's idea. I just changed it a little to fit the situation.

BUT if everyone can agree on a way to make Waluigi's move work -- and it looks like we're about to do just that -- it would be even better. Just like a GBC remake of the original Zelda would have been even better, if they had figured out how to pull it off successfully. Also I still want Toad as a secret character and he should be the one without a special move.

So I'll slowly put the special-move-killer gun down and come out with my hands up. wink.gif

Guinea and I have counted up the votes, and here's what I think we've decided on.

1) Do we want a Worldmap or a Hub World?
a) Worldmap
b) Hub World

2) Should we be able to switch between the bros during gameplay or only outside of the levels?
a) Only outside of the levels (on the worldmap/hub)

3) Special abilities for the brothers?
