I'm thinking of buying an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 USB MIDI interface box.

If I am right, when it's connected to an USB slot/place/whatever, it cand receive stuff from my MIDI keyboard. Am I right?

I've not used that model, but yes, that's what USB midi interfaces usually do.

I went for a more direct option:

This is what I use. http://www.victorlitz.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=4191

Saved a lot of money, space and hassle. I control the synthesizers on my PC and the cable just interprets the MIDI signal.
