Kirby, TRIED to sprite him...

First attempt at a kirby... I just used a pretty basic pose; didn't want to try making some complicated action pose. Shoes suck... I know. Still working on the shading.



Really need help on this one.

Actually pretty good.
His face is too small in comparison to his body, and his arms should be more round, but otherwise its quite good.

MSPaint circle? Lineart needs a bunch of work. The hueshifts are ALL wrong and the colors don't work. The arms are way too small and the body is just...ew. Work on this some more, please.

Ok Let me explain something right now, the shading and the entire form of kirby you made here is entirely incorrect... His body is not a perfect circle as well as it not being a MSPaint circle. His feet aren't even positioned in a 3rd dimension it is like he is Shimmying... The Hands are FAR too small, there is no form to them at all.

The colors are not very well done either.

Well at least SOMEONE was nice about it *cough*Dex on MSN*cough*. Okay well I did this in about 10 minutes which for me is really fast. The candle in my sig. took about an hour but it was my first.

It was kinda cheap, but I used this as my ref. Personally, I thought it looked almost exactly like it.

It's funny you say that because the other things I showed you on MSN (that were meaner) were worse, but I'm not getting into any outside disputes.

The palette is rather boring, use hue shifts that make sense.

The shading you have makes it flat as well.

I'd also suggest a better pose, even though you wanted it simple.


more AA is needed too >:C

Ok i'm just gonna go down a list of what you did wrong.
1)NO MSPAINT CIRCLES!
2)Make the arms look like arms they just look like small little well bent up pieces of i don't know what.
3)Make the shoes bigger.
4)Eyes should be bigger and more cartoony,
5) the mouth is just well wrong not big enough i didn't even notice it at first.
6) colors are ugly and that's as nice as I can put it.
7) he's a stiff cardboardish lookin guy, livin him up man.
8) scrap this, and restart it.
9) repost it then.

There I critiqued take it harshly and don't fix it, or take it seriously and take my suggestions.

Okay... I know he still has the same basic pose. I just want to make it clear I'm trying to just get the basics at the moment. I might do a different pose after I get this.

I changed the line art, the eye size, the contrast, the colors, the mouth, the arms, and the shoes... which still suck. I really need some more help on this one. Thanks!

the arms lok really... Funky.
they shouldn't be sticking out at that angle, unless he's leaning forward, and by the look of the sprite, he isn't. So, right now that's my only complaint.

It's better, but now it needs more contrast, and the arms going out looks kinda weird. You can make them big in the same pose as before.

As for the shoes, try giving them a dark red outline.

The shoes do have a dark red outline... as dark as I could get it while it still being red and not black. So maybe just a thicker outline?

And I kinda figured that with the arms but I wanted to just make sure.

Much better, but the arms look too stretched out.

The red is still horrid though.

the arms should be like half a ball.

I don't know if I completely fixed the arms... or the shoes. I did change the shoe color more to an orange. Also changed contrast and the shape of the shading on the body. That looks a lot better to me anyway.
