Yes, they are a great way to Practice C++ if you are new at it. All it requires is knowledge of the Basics(IOStream, main()) and Switch Case.

if you want a challenge, make a calculator that takes an input string like "((5 - 7^2) / sqrt(5 * 6))" and displays THAT answer

so you basically would have to make it do everything like checking for missing/extra parenthesis, missing/extra/illegal operators, missing/extra/illegal operands, etc

even better, make it solve algebra problems like "a^2 + 5^2 = 6^2; a" where it would solve for 'a'

Same reason that Wii has a News Channel Weather Channel. (changed my answer 'cause there's a penny arcade comic)

Xgoff's algebra solver is a bit out of your league, but the order-of-operations thing is a bit easier. It's also a standard problem in sophomore-level computer science and you might want to read up on that. Fun with binary trees, wot.

Hmmmm..
It's not in WIP/Released games.
So I think it's alright, because after all it's about C++ and you can program games with C++...
Also where else would you post this? GC? Arts board?

Update! It now has 8 Functions, the new ones being Modulo, Square, and Square Root. Unfortunately, do to some difficulties in mixing Single Number and Multi-Number Functions in 1 EXE, I have made 2 EXEs. 1 for Single-Number Problems, and 1 for Double-Number Problems. And I am currently studying up on C++ to learn how to create a OOO* Calculator.

*OOO stands for Order of Operations.

You should make an exercise out of combing your now-separate calculator programs into a single program. It's pretty easy to selectively request a second integer based on the operator you input.

Yes, I see how to do it now! I'll get to work on it!

EDIT: Ok, the Calculator is now all in 1 File, but I have achieved an Error with this Line:
result=sqrt(num1);
It returns C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\C++\Calculators\Calculator\main.cpp|51|warning: converting to `long long int' from `double'|
My variables Defines are here:
char operate;
long long double num1,num2,result;
long long double is the Double Version of __int64.

Like what, an RGB Color Viewer? That'd be a good First SDL Program. XD

Ok, here's an EXE using 2 DLLs and a GIF to draw a Gradient. You can edit the Picture to Edit what it draws. It requires the SDL.dll V1.2.13 and SDL_image.dll V1.2.6 DLLs.
