A few weeks ago we had a site staff application test. You might remember it. If you don't, you really should.

I'll just copy and paste my entry from forum 12. Because yes, I gave the test a go. And I have the same answers as Thunder Dragon. So it's safe to say it's more or-less correct:

=SPRITES=

Sprite 1: Accept. Pretty cool. Could be useful.
Sprite 2: Stolen, wasted space.
Sprite 3: Decline. Though it does have some useful frames, the majority of it is made up of recolours which anyone can do (and have already done)
Sprite 4: Accept ~~because TD ripped it~~. Full rip, no others exist.

=GAMES=

Game 1: Probably would end up accepting this, even if it is a bit dull and sucky. Luckily reviews tend to point out flaws in games and the authors often fix these flaws afterwards, so this might end up being improved anyway.
Game 2: Accept. It's ugly but there's clearly been some effort put into this. Moreso than the above anyway. Not a huge fan of the install but that doesn't equal a decline.
Game 3: Probably end up accepting this one as well. Not a fan of the forced resize, if I were in a bad mood I might decline to to not being able to make a decent pair of screenshots. That isn't being taken into account here though.
Game 4: Decline. Basic, dull, unpolished and without music.

=REVIEWS=

Review 1: Decline. Too short. Biased.
Review 2: Accept, just. It's a bit short in places but it's good enough. Recommendation for the author to increase the length might be cool.
Review 3: Accept. Decent length, not much more I can say.
Review 4: Decline. Too short, tell user to fix spelling/grammar. Bias.

=SOUNDS=

Sounds 1: Stolen from VGMusic.com, and at one MIDI this isn't worth anything.
Sounds 2: Already been ripped by Trasher (http://www.mfgg.net/index.php?act=resdb&param=02&c=5&id=2572). Low quality too! It's almost like this was uploaded for fun! Also member is banned =P

of course I have access to info you don't, like who made it. And my stance is different because I can bypass queues entirely.

We got a lot of entries, but we eventually decided to hire

PUCIFUR

as the next site staffer

then we decided to hire

MEGATAILZCHAO

and a SECOND site staffer

that's right, we hired two. DAAAMN weren't expecting that were you?!

So yeah, congratulations to both of them, who are now able to access the queue and whatnot. You can use this topic to marvel at your new site staff lords and masters. Fun fact: MFGG now has the main queue shifters behind Metroid: Fan Mission AND Zelda Fan Games Network. Now all we need is Smidge from SFGHQ.

For those who didn't get it, sorry, but we had our reasons. Some people scored higher than the two we hired but declined/accepted stuff for the wrong reasons, or aren't particularly active on MFGG as a whole, or have the disadvantage of not being known by anyone.

well at least as far as accepting/declining goes.

Please don't get all crazy because you didn't get hired. It won't help your chances if we have to do this again. As said, the score is just half of the test, and in practise, bad decisions can be overridden by other staffers.

Things to note

All the MIDIs were stolen from VGMusic.
SMB3 sounds already exist on site in higher quality.
Beer Penguin is a rip from the Japanese version Wario Land 3.
Installers are NEVER an issue as site staff can remove them
Taking this test when you know you can't finish a category is a stupid, stupid idea.
Some of you managed not to say "Accept" or "Decline" when submitting. We just had to guess from a bunch of random sentences. "This is good but not amazing" or words to that effect don't tell us much.
Site staffers can edit submissions and need to.

Still, as you can see, there was a LOT of competition. LOTS. Thanks to everyone who entered anyways and congratulations once again to Pucifur and MegaTailzChao.

Now get to work.

I kinda raised that issue before that no one really knows if it is or isn't since we don't know the authors of these, haha. Empty space also isn't a good reason to decline something, since there may be some REALLY useful sprites there, and if someone organizes it poorly just to make room for that "extra space" joke, you shouldn't just decline it, although you should certainly alert them of it. Personally it makes sense to me to decline something for excessive empty space, and then accept it when the submitter re-submits it with the empty space gone. That way everything works out fine.
